Yeah i've seen this, there were also another group in the past who wanted to remake Indiana Jones and the fate of atlantis. But personally i hope they won't because i'd rather have the bonus soundtrack from the original creators included just like the other Lucas Art games that have been revisited. So hopefully people will buy DOTT and MI1 & MI2 special editions and remasterd editions so they will see people are still interested

it would seem a sensible idea, especially since the Indy franchise could use something good. who knows, perhaps the next Indy movie may be able to actually sell a few tickets if more fans are exposed to the real Indy 4

Not interested in such things. I prefer to play games in their original state. Sprites hold up quite well too. Never seen many remasters/remakes that looked better than the original.

DOTT remasterd is a great game! so will FT be next years. So i still stand by my point, Fate of Atlantis should also be remasterd, if they do you are not going to buy. problem solved ;)

I didn't say they should STOP remaking/remastering games. I just said I am not interested in getting them, UNLESS they come with the original game, and that the game is not already available digitally. I got Grim Fandango remastered because the original has never been released digitally before, and it came with the original. Same with the Monkey Island special editions.

Games like Gabriel Knight, on the other hand, were already available digitally before the remaster/remake/whatever came out, so I didn't see any reason to play it when I can already play the original. I also don't see the reason why people would remake any games that are readily available to purchase still, like FATE. Obviously I am in the minority, I much prefer still playing games as they originally appeared. That doesn't mean people shouldn't make updated versions. There is obviously a market for them. I just won't buy them, unless, as I've mentioned, the original version cannot already be purchased digitally. There's nothing wrong with original games. The spritework has its own special charm that no updated, high res, image can match. That's why, for me personally, the awesome spritework in games like DOTT and FATE look better than the updated graphics the remasters use. They lose all their charm IMO. Give me the originals any day.

The guys making the FATE remake didn't even obtain any permission yet from the devs before making it. Seems like a stupid idea. Disney may say 'no' and they would have done all that work for absolutely nothing. Get permission and THEN start working on it, or risk getting sued or ceased and desisted, because they're going to find out about it eventually.

Either way, people like you are satisfied and people like me are happy because they always include the old version in the remasterd edition.

Exactly. I love it when remasters include the original version, but hate it when they don't. It appeals to both groups when they include the original. It's annoying that some people think I'm crazy for preferring older versions to this classy, high definition version. I have played games since the ViC-20, so older style graphics (like sprites) don't bother me at all, and I still love how much detail/animation people put into them despite being an 'ancient' form of art. Of course, there are lots of people who think sprites are hideous and shouldn't be used in games anymore, but I hugely disagree.

Remember Nintendo's Game & Watch? I love G&W and people think I am crazy that I prefer them to the 'updated' versions found on the GB, GBA, and DS handhelds. There's nothing at all wrong with the original LCD versions.

I'm 36 years of age i started on Commodore 64 and went all the way from 386,486,pentium, ect to where we are now.
My favorite games were point & click adventure games back in the 90's. but we also owned Nes & Snes and playstation, while my brother was bussy playing consoles i felt the Pc platform was more of interest for me.
I myself have no ' hate ' how you call it for sprites, infact i think many young Pc gamers actually love Pixel art. But that's not what Remastered edition are about. It seems you are not reading between the lines my friend.
Remastered means the game get overhault because the original game is allready there and fan's of the game like to see the game get remastered.

There will alway be people rambeling about what they like and don't like, instead of seeing what the game really is and what developers have done with it. The started out by reading the comments and they listend to the audience. they see a market for Point&Click games.
enough to remaster a game. If that's not fabulous then i don't know..

I recently picked up Broken Age a creation of Tim schaffer's Double Fine studio and boy i felt like the first time a played DOTT.
I would LOVE to see more of that! both style graphical wise and the way it's drawn is just SuperB!

I don't agree that many (young) people today love pixel art. We're different because we were born in that era, but from the comments I see in many message boards, there are always a number of people who loathe pixel art because they just want the shiny, realistic graphics of today and think pixel art were made by lazy people or people who want to go the 'retro' route and failed miserably. Some people despise pixel art in all forms and don't want to see them in games. It's sad that these people aren't respecting the medium. I would assume most of these people are younger gamers who hadn't grown up with sprites.

I'm talking about remasters in general, not just point and click adventure games, although it's probably better that they remaster point and click adventure games. The genre isn't as popular as it was (most people prefer to play action, non-thinking games), the new games, especially the episodic format they're doing now, just don't have the same appeal to me compared to the older games where it actually felt like you were going on a world-wide adventure. Would rather see more people remaster old games than make new ones IMO. I wish Sierra and LA still made these games. Their games were the best.

Like I said, there's a market for remasters since lots of them are getting made, but they just don't appeal much to me because the original is what I grew up and played with.

I love new games too, i'm not falling in a catagory that only contains old games, i do wonder and amaze by the fact that my 40Mhz cpu turned into a 4Ghz cpu. Also i'm a techie kind of guy that likes al new sorts of technology's like 10bit HDR , VR , etc etc.

For me it was LA games more then Sierra.. Doom and herretic were also favorite games of me.
