Why no Japanese subtitles?
This would be very helpful for Japanese learners. The English subtitles break my immersion.

If it's in Japanese audio, why put it in Japanese Kanji for Japanese learners?
if you want to learn Japanese, I don't think this is the best place to start.
and if you don't want subtitles, I think you can disable subtitles.

I guess it is fine if you can disable subtitles. Legally accessible anime with Japanese subtitles are difficult to find, so it would be much better if Steam could offer it in their anime. There are already a few free sources for anime with Japanese audio, but I would be willing to pay for anime with Japanese subtitles on Steam. Being able to read while listening would be more involved than listening alone, but this experience is pretty much only available in games and on some Youtube channels. It'd be nice to practice with anime, too.

Hiragana is difficult for even advanced foreign learners to understand due to homophones. It's really useful only for Japanese children. Recognizing the radicals in kanji to become more comfortable looking up unfamiliar words in a dictionary takes a lot of time, but kanji is very preferable after that hurdle.
