No Polestars
How do I retrieve a crew member when it doesn't show I have any polestars?

you'll find them through scanning or in events

I scanned and finally got a polestar and it disappeared when I went to retrieve my crew. what am I doing wrong.

This is a little late, but don't forget you can use the Celestial Marketplace to buy polestars you need. It can get expensive though.
