Where is the front?

Are the AIs able to make a front, this was the essence of WW1, at least in Europe. I'm asking that because the military AI was not the strong point of the devs, with units attacking in blobs cities protected by vast amount of garrisons, and that's it.

It did for my first game, but with recent updates the front hasn't lasted as long for me. It could be because people were complaining that the armies weren't moving enough (which ironically is unrealistic- you don't want them to move much).
