Bleeding message stuck on screen and wont allow me to exit

Using xbox controller if that makes a difference. Everytime i start bleeding a message pops up "you will bleed till death, no saving.." and that message gets stuck on my screen and none of the buttons do anything after that. That message is stuck on screen. You can get your inventory open (not sure how cause I was mashing every button) but nothing past that because no buttons allow you to choose anything. I hardley ever get fed up with games but I was extremely pissed off at that. Already irritated at the combat and getting my ass kicked and then this ♥♥♥♥ happpens. Dont get me wrong, this game is pretty sweet but that bug just killed the game for me because im pretty sure that pops up the first time you take bleeding ever so this means ill have to avoid bleeding the entire game or keep constantly have to reload to nearest checkpoint (WHICH THERE IS NO OPTION FOR!) by dying and then try again.

Stephen here, dev of Unto. I hate bugs too, sorry you've hit this. Lets see if I can help.

The bleeding message should auto-dismiss by walking away from it. It doesn't dismiss with a button press.

When you exit and load back into the game are you near a rest fire? If so, can you try resting at the fire and mending wounds. Then exiting and reloading. Let me know if you still see the message.

If you do see it, can you try walking away from it, without pushing any buttons, just walk away, it should auto-dismiss. You can also try eating a herb, which should dismiss it for a "bleeding slowed" message.

The message should only display once, and never show again - after you've walked away from it.

Let me know if any of that helps. And again sorry you ran into this.

No none of the buttons work when that message pops up. I cant move or do anything. I can press start to see the controls and thats it. Sometimes I can get the inventory menu to come up but cant scroll thru it or anything. None of the buttons work when this happens. Im playing on Xbox gamepass through PC with xbox controller. I tried unplugging controller and using keyboard but that didnt work either.

Okay. Very strange. It’s definitely a rare bug as we’ve had many many players thru the game without this issue :|.

Regardless, let me try and better understand exactly what is happening.

1) You load the game and as soon as it fades to the world the bleeding message is displayed? And you cannot dismiss it?

2) Or, while playing you take damage (leading to bleeding) and see the “bleeding message” with no way to dismiss it?

Aside: This could be a Gamepass PC specific bug, as it's a port of the game. But I've seen lots of people play the Gamepass PC version without issue. Some could be something with your specific controller or maybe just a weird edge case that's gotten triggered. There are few things we can do, but let me know the above and then we can get it sorted.

number 2 exactly. Theres no response from any buttons except start. I figured it was a rare bug and probably just with gamepass cause I couldnt find any info on it. Ive tried to figure it out a few times now. Im going to see if just using my keyboard from start up will work. Thanks a lot for your help.

I dont use social media im sorry. I use Discord though. I played for another 45 minutes with the keyboard. After a duel I was bleeding but the message never came up. I will try some more tomorrow and try to replicate it again.

I'm having the same Issue. I'm playing on an Xbox One.

-It's a repeating issue that requires me to close the game and restart it. I guess I'll just have to do a hitless run lol.
-I tested it, and this pop up glitch is caused by multiple different types of enemies and weapons, not just one.

@CaravanRiot That sucks, sorry. Past investigations suggested the issue was related to the controller being used. What kind of controller are you using for your Xbox?

I was using the latest Xbox controller version released, the one with a screen shot button.
