Pizza Connection 2

Pizza Connection 2

Fixed for modern systems?
I remember playing the hell out of this game as a kid, but also remember how it was the only ever game I played which wouldn't boot even on Vista (let alone Win8.1 and 10) - is this the game released in the same state it was in 2001 or have you guys refined the code a bit to play well with more modern systems?

Either way, great to see this on Steam!

What means "compatible" exactly? I have for example an 21:9 display. Does the game support other ratios than 4:3? If not, what happens if i start the game on a 16:9 or 21:9 screen?

Soo glad to hear that - instant buy for me then!

@diki I can't really tell you that because I can't test it. And this thread was about OEM support. This is not a remastered edition which focus on support other devices or hardware. But I don't think this might be an issue to play this game, but I can't guarantee it. So sorry that I am not able to give a precise answer. We have not the ressources to test every eventuality.

The aspect ratio is still 4:3 but it has black borders at the side so it doesn't stretch and fits to a widescreen format. You can check the one screenshot someone has uploaded to see for yourself. That's what I'm getting on my 16:9 screen anyway.

The game itself outputs in 800x600 so it depends on your GPU settings whether it's pillarboxing or stretching those. This screenshot is something else - I used dgVoodoo (that's why the overlay works in the first place) and set it to upscale & keep aspect ratio.

How did you get the overlay to work with dgVoodoo? I copied D3D8.dll, D3DImm.dll and DDraw.dll to the Pizza Connection 2 directory, configured dgVoodoo and launched the game. The settings from dgVoodoo worked, but the Steam overlay does not work.

Edit: Nevermind, got it to work in windowed mode with overlay[oi67.tinypic.com]. Scaling does not really work though, because the mouse acts weird (doesn't click at the shown position).

Not sure really, since it wraps ddraw to d3d11 overlay should "just work" - though do note main menu steals key presses so you can't show the overlay there.

And yeah mouse is definitely jittery, that's why I just opt for no scaling and using "Upscale & keep aspect ratio" option. Though mouse behaves odd sometimes still, almost as if it was snapping to some GUI buttons - might be a deliberate action but these days with higher DPI mice and much higher resolutions it's nothing but an annoyance. No idea how easy it'd be to correct, however.

I'm also getting instant crashes trying to run this game on windows 10 x64. Just bought this for Steam a few weeks back but I've not been able to get it to run. Pizza Connection 1 runs fine, it seems.

download ddraw.zip and unzip it's contents into your game folder. Solved all those annoying mouse issues for me. Almost gave up on it :) Running win 10 atm. No other game adjustments just that dll file was all I needed apparently. Good luck.
