Loot Box Issue

I've found an issue with the newly added loot boxes. They seem to only be appearing on save files made after the update launched. I've tested this on both birthday and survival mode.
I did this by narrowing down where a box was thanks to someone else's screenshot. Because, at first I thought these were crazily well hidden since I was using my old save file and I found that it wasn't there. Went and checked it on both my old files afterwards. I've since made new birthday and survival saves and both have the loot box spawned in as intended.
If there's any way of making it so people with older saves don't have to re-earn all their stuff just to join in on the loot box hunt I'm sure I won't be the only one that'd really appreciate it if it's possible.

it would appear so, that none of the loot boxes are in my current 'old save file' in survival, I think the worst thing I am thinking of, I'm aiming for the 100 days survived and just to start over to earn crates, I don't think it's worth it, everything else seems to have updated with only a minor issue so far I've noticed
