I got the automatic email reply, which says it can take up to a couple of business days for a reply to my ticket, and also tries to convince me to install their "Syscheck" utility (uhhh, no thank you, I'd rather not). :P
Anyways, I'll wait and see what they say when (if) a real person does reply and if they actually bother to read my ticket and not just send some generic copy-&-paste nonsense.
You could try contacting MAGIX Support yourself, via their site;
http://www.magix.com/us/support/technical-support/
(scroll to the bottom for "Online technical support").
Maybe the more people that try to make them aware of the bug, then they might actually take notice and fix it.
Aside from the annoying bug (as mentioned in my first post in this thread), I found this software to be a bit unstable, often randomly crashing on me, and I suspect even caused some problems with my Steam-client and folders (Steam was no longer able to download anything and it locked up some folders when I tried to uninstall it, so I had to end up doing a repair on my Steam Library folders and a Clear Download Cache).
Anyways, for video editing it's back to using Sony Vegas Pro 13 for me as that seems to still work good and does what I want.
That's great. For you.
I guess it's a hit or miss for some Users. As you can see, some other people posted about having some issues with this software as well.
Did some further testing on this, just to see the differences between systems, here is a basic rundown of what I found out:
I run Video X8 on three Windows 10 systems, lower end Dell notebook (LAT 4310), MSI mid tier gaming notebook, and a high end gaming PC.
On the high end PC and the MSI notebook, the system runs very well, and I did not run into any errors, no matter what tests I ran.
On the older notebook:
I did actually manage to replicate the hang (when closing/exiting the application -- which was not happening upon the initial install/basic testing). Additionally, I noticed some instability when using spatial 3D transitions (oddly enough not so much with 3D effects, or titles).
But when adding higher-end spatial transitions, the application would hang (my guess in trying to go through the render itself). Given the notebooks limited amount of graphical and system memory (mostly use this system for light gaming and office type tasks) it did not really surprise me that I would run into some issues on the lower-end system.
The hang itself, initially also caused some instability with the project file when attempting to reload it (some pointer errors, and loading issues), however the software was actually able to auto correct the issue, and the file did load in the end (but for the sake of being complete, I'm including the outcome here).
That being said, I still use the application on the older Dell, and it is functional just as long as you do not use the spatial transitions. So even on this basic system the software, although limited was very functional.
Not sure if any of this will have a 1:1 correlation with your given issues, but I thought I would update my experience so far with the software just in case anyone else was interested.
I'm on it :)
I will discuss the topic with the dev team today, and let you know something in a timely fashion.
@Lonewolfdon
Sorry to hear that you had instability issues with ProX, that steam could not download anymore because of our application is new to me and sounds a little strange but we will definitely investigate this case.
@CypherHawk
Thanks for the testing and posting of the results, I'm also not surprised that on the lower end system you had some issue, still I will report your result to the devs, and see what they say to me.
Cheers

PS.
In the steam setup you can activate or deactivate the possibility to download while you are playing or editing.
Click on "Steam/Settings", then select "Download" and activate the field "allow downloads during gameplay".
I suppose that if the instance Videoprox.exe is still working after closing the application, and the download function is disabled, you might have the impression that the steam client is not working properly.

Thanks for the follow up, yes I was actually surprised it even started up on the older notebook, but it is still even somewhat usable, obviously very slow on the rendering side of things (due to the lack system/video memory), but it does work for basic edits and project tweaks. The older notebook is at a remote location, and I sync a lot basic projects through cloud storage, so although not optimal it is still useful to switch between locations as needed :).
Dev have been informed and are already working on it.
This is a small news I know, but i will come back with more information as soon as possible.
Cheers

I envy you. I was using Movie Edit Pro 2015 and it was fairly stable; I also downloaded trial of this version from their website and it was also fairly stable. So I bought it on Steam, but at the very moment I didn't had anything to work with, I left it alone.
Now I started to use it and lags and stops working every couple seconds. So far I am deeply dissapointed with how this works...
Edit: Not closing properly (Unless Task Manager), plus lots of crashes.
I have i7 3770 3.4 GHz, GTX 980, 32 GB RAM, and my project file is on a WD Black 6 TB HDD.
I have Vegas 13 and 14 but since MAGIX's interface is much much better and I got used to it, I don't want to go back to them.
(PC: i7 4790k, gtx 970, 16gb ram and windows 10 with all recent updates.)
Would be nice if you get this fixed. (Had the same problem with magix video deluxe 2015 premium)
