Is it really necassary to make the female character so naked? I mean you got an awesome game here (Any game based on Muramasa : Demon Blade is awesome) so I dont understand why you would try to appeal to people with "sex" .. Games looks fine without that :P

This "fan service" bs is not only degrading to woman who are treated like sex dolls, but also degrading to men who are treated like 12 years old virgin silly nerds.
Pop culture as a whole should leave porn to porn sites and stop ruining everything with a fan service that is too light to arouse but silly enough to ruin any story mood.

First of all, why does having 2B as a profile background matter? Secondly, while I disagree with OP's opinions of not having a sexy female protag, I do understand where they're coming from and that they have valid points. Not every game needs an overtly sexy protag, and it'd be bad if /every/ game had an overtly sexy protag.

That being said, I am in the camp that Vivian being overtly sexy while wear a highly sexual outfit is OK. It doesn't ruin the game, and it provides a nice bit of eye candy while she acts like a badass fighting monsters. Maybe I've just watched too much anime and stuff, but I can look past the fact Vivian is waltzing around in a bikini and still enjoy the interesting story and character interactions. Suspension of Disbelief.

Well that arguement has been rendered completely invalid.

Bottom line, the game has not been ruined by an overly sexy character. Not every female character/ protag needs to be sexualized, but there's nothing wrong with having some fanservice here and there. Whether that be subtle or blatant, sprinkled in a few places or put at the forefront as a specific draw. As long as the game is still well-done, and as long as the fanservice isn't twisted to be full on insulting or sexist (this applies to both male and female fanservice), there ain't nothing wrong with a bit of sex appeal.

Besides, the fanservice can be easily ignored since you'll be spending most of the game sprinting everywhere or engaging in Animu fights with special affects and enemies being blown at your screen.

I understand immortality's argument as well. I can't think of a single game right now where a female character is not oversexualized in a sense. To me, I don't care because I don't particularly like staring at guys when I play video games. The argument has valid points though as Dak mentioned.
