Anyone know how to get past the 'magic' gate with the bow

Can't seem to work it out.

Ok if anyone else gets stuck here you have to kill the round creatures that rise out of the lava. They seem to come up too late but just walk the bridge slowly and kill them all.
Then 4 orbs appear on gate circle and you shoot them with bow to proceed.
