How do you unlock the new characters (specifically Remedy and Frallan)?

Do I have to do Galaxy Crossed stuff? I'm not an experienced player, I just got the game and those levels are wrecking me.

I know this post is like really old and OP def figured it out but I got stuck on this same issue and couldn't find any answers so if anyone is trying to unlock them you just gotta beat chapter 4 of galaxy crossed. You don't even need to end each level with a positive score you'll progress through the levels either way.
