Running with DirectX12 (-dx12 in launch options) made it run a lot smoother, and gsync is now working. I don't know if there are side effects to this. I didn't have any problems in the 20 minutes or so I played.

FPS drops to 30 and lock there if vsync is on (dunno why not on 60fps) When vsync is off FPS are on 50-80 but ofc sharp screenplay.
I've got GTX 1660 Super and newest video drivers.

FoV .. good point. I read about some games w/ FoV problems. Will test and report.

// Tried 80 - 120 .. not much difference.

So far, fixed fps via ingame options is doing the trick.

I have a rtx 3070. And in full screen mode it drops down to 37-38 fps in places. If I switch to the full-screen window mode, I have no more fps problems, and in the same places where 38 fps were before then 70-75 fps. Tested multiple times. Tested with vsync and gsync. Gsync works a little better for me than vsync (+5 fps). But with both settings this fps drops. So full screen window mode is the solution for me. But that should be fixed.

For me it was the VSync that was causing the issue. Turning it off and setting it to adaptive from NVidia control panel fixed the issue.

In game vsync does the same to me, locks me at half my refresh rate but only for gameplay, actively running around. As soon as I go in a menu the FPS shoots up to what it should be, and when I exit the menu it quickly drops back to 30. I'm not getting any screen tearing with it off, and can easily switch to vsync from my Radeon software instead if I have to.

Still, this is something that shouldn't be happening.

1070Ti with Ryzen 3700X at 1920x1080 and the FPS absolutely tanks whenever there is any kinda volumetric fog/smoke effect being rendered. Every other situation is a smooth 60FPS.

If they added an option to adjust the particle density of the fog that'd be great.

(Also the game really needs a Lock-On system but that's not really relevant to this topic)

I too also am experiencing similar issues involving frame drop in many different areas.

Ryzen 7 3700X
RTX 2070SUPER
32GB 3200MHz

UPDATE: After reading into some suggestions, I inserted -dx12 into my properties and have since had no issues with frame drops or lag. Almost always 60FPS or higher.

Old post but thanks! Just started playing and my fps dropped like 40 when exploring Bricktown. Enabled dx12 and now its butter smooth :steamhappy:
