Will This Game Have Raytracing Support?
I didn't see any mention of it on the store page. I have an RTX 2080 Ti and would love to use raytracing here. Game looks beautiful in the trailers, so one could assume it might. Any ideas?

It's a last generation Dx11 game built for PS4 era hardware circa 2015.

Expect the best of the previous generation graphically, not the latest dx12 options.

They very deliberately began working using tools they were familiar with and then did not push the boundary during development so that the small (but experienced) team could focus on story and game play and not hardware limitations.

Original planned release of 2018, the extra 3 years they said were spent on expanding the story, dialogue and scope of the world, not graphics.

It's not even being released on current generation consoles, it's coming out for the PS4 and PC, not even the PS5. So in effect, no matter how good the game is, this is a PS4 console port for PC.

It's certainly a valid tactical move in todays market. By focusing on what they know and making use of the best of older tech they have a very good chance of reaching the wider market that has not been able to upgrade their systems in recent years (due to well... everything...) and it's nice to hear that a dev was willing to take the time to just "make the game good" without caring about which shiny effects will melt your graphics card.

Well, that's a shame. Game's been on my radar for a while and I waited a bit for more trailers to come out before I pre-ordered it. I was under the impression it could use DX12, but that was only guesswork. Thanks for the detailed reply.

If you are seriously going to dismiss a game over such a minimal difference in graphics I feel sorry for you.

Half the games that use dx12 don't even use it to its full potential and barely look any better than a dx11 game can anyway.

dx11 didn't peak in quality until dx12 was already coming out, so a team taking full advantage of the best of the previous generation is very likely to achieve nice results without even having to bend your hardware to dance out 3 extra shading pixels.

I'd bet you 99% of the games you play aren't good examples of dx12. And the best of dx11 compared to the tech-fails we've seen coming out lately might just let the game play speak for itself while the graphics are simply good enough to enjoy without freaking caring.

What's with the sudden hostility? I gave you an award and this is how you thank me for it? For the record, I already have the game in my library. I was merely asking because I figured I have an RTX card, so raytracing would have been nice to have.

In what way was that hostile?

It was sympathy.

Judging a game purely on graphics somewhat misses the point. Gameplay and story can be done amazingly well even with pixel level graphics. The idea that you would dismiss a game over something as trivial as which minor graphics engine changes were chosen is sad to me that you would be so shallow in appreciating a game.

It's unlikely as they would have hyped it if Ray-Tracing were to be in the game at launch.

Just because something is designed with last gen tech, doesn’t mean the game will look rubbish anyway. And from what I’ve seen this game has a nice style and looks decent enough. The fur on creatures looks excellent.

Maybe if the game is a success, they will do a next gen upgrade for those that need shiny shiny.
