I think it's meant to be like that.. even more so than the demon/ dark soul "tutorial" bosses that are supposed to kill you. You still get the reward regardless. Not sure tho

Considering that it doesn't especially matter if you win or lose, does it matter if it's impossible?

In my case I found it infinitely hilarious because I had just gotten done killing two (and imprisoning the 3rd) for the Picchu Tribe's takeover, and was like "HAH, take that, you childhood bullies, who's laughing NOW?! Your petty flashback can't change your fates NOW!" XD

I agree - super annoying.

The staff guy you have to block religiously -- but with the other two sniping you from the back it made it unbearable.

The staff guy by himself -- he was doing too much damage to me and I wasn't good enough at blocking. I think in a 2nd play through I'll have an easier time but that 3v1 I am not sure if it is possible.

I've only beaten him so far but i had a very overpowered rifle that made him trivial sadly. I found it early on and it made my game easier.

I managed to win in 1 and 2 battle on hard, died in 2 hits next battle. Npc with staff is hard to fight, since there is no one who fights that way. He should have normal npc attack animanions here, since he is not yet master.

Jesus Christ, I just realized bullies from the past are indeed 3 leaders of Myriad, Ankati and weebJagni! They look exactly same as when they were kids and wield exact same weapons, and one of them even made the tribe following his own name, Puti Ankati! Yes it is possible to beat them... Its not easy, but its possible, as I have done it myself.

The way I went about it was to draw the staff kid to the bottom of the stairway, then continued to kick his ass. I took a couple of hits from him, so I was down on health, but not out. Following this, I went for the bow kid, who near the top of the stairway, before finally going for the last kid with the boomerang. The last kid was the most annoying, as he could respond to my attacks, so I had to occasionally dodge an attack.

CONTEXT:
I've re-tried this fight several times on extreme difficulty and once I've managed to beat them all, but unbeatable quick time event launched anyways.

EVEN WITH CHEATS:
I thought that I just was hit at the last second so I retried (just to check) with a trainer.
I activated god mode and damage multiplier.
I've beaten them in first strike, but same thing happened - QTE and loose sequence.

SUMMARY:
It's a scripted-to-fail event, the best thing you can do is just let yourself be killed quickly.
