The Xbox text explains this a lot better, it is a loadout, nothing more nothing less, it just lets you start looking as a samurai :)

They will prolly allow it as a DLC later on for a price tag, which means you have the option to get a free DLC for showing support via preorder.
It's "less awful" this way.
Just because its always been done, doesn't make it any less ♥♥♥♥♥♥ of a practice. Day 1 DLC is content that the developers CUT off the main game and then charge you for it. It doesn't matter that it will be available later or, that its a load out ect. The sheer fact that the Developers or the publisher is removing content from the game so they can milk you for more money is deplorable.
I out right boycotted ME3 over crap like this... and i'll do it again for this game if i must. Frankly its the only way developers will ever learn... and the fact SO many seem fine with it just shows how, devs have conditioned players to accept anti-consumer practices.
So no it's not ok, you want my money? make actual DLC, with actual content after the fact. Give us a REAL expansion like the old days... and i'll happily pay for it. But this Merc DLC? is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke and an insult to consumers.
Why do people continue to reference this "release day DLC?"
Pay attention...its not a launch day paid DLC.
I don't think you can say that for a fact. If they develop something from the start along side the game always planning for it to be DLC, that doesn't make it cut out from the game just because it was released at the same time.
Because if you don't preorder you can still get it later as DLC
