What's up with Mappy?

Finished the game yesterday, and was left with one thing on my mind. Was it just me, or was there something kinda off about the character Mappy? (Note, don't keep reading if you don't want mild spoilers.)

I was convinced at some point that she was going to do something bad after Sosa mentioned that Mappy would be the only person she would tell that I'm a witch hunter, so at the point in the game after the birthday party when I went into the canteen to find Mappy very creepily sitting in a dark corner recording everything surrounded by the dead bodies, all I could think is, "Is she trying to film my death and there's something in here with me? Is she working for the witch?" I was unnerved enough by her recording there that I avoided stepping on the balloons for fear it would wake up some monster in that room. Yet nothing actually came of it, and she wasn't one of the people found in the lobby later making me confused at the point of her character when it never really lead into anything like it seemed it was hinting at, and I feel I got to know her the least out of all the non generic npc's.

Am I alone in feeling that Mappy was giving off the vibe that she knew more than she was letting on, or had some sort of malicious intent towards your character? Or maybe it's just because she says so little I merely imagined that impression on to her?

I'm pretty sure she's just eccentric, not malicious. I never really got any vibe that she was particularly important either. She and Sosa both seem weird and creepy at first (probably why they made quick friends), but with Sosa we got to see her open up so that initial impression fades away. Mappy is probably not much different from Sosa, it's just that Brian never really had much reason to interact with her.
