An update on the progress to resolve the issue where the game seems to crash randomly.
1) Update a number of Drivers to latest versions - this already made a difference
2) Updated the BIOS and used Default settings ie version 1805 - also made a difference
3) NB - it seems my Hard-drive (C:) where the OS is running on was a major issue (my games are installed on a different drive D:) - I had a Lexar SSD in and this caused the HD to spike to 100%.... and crash.
Replaced both with high-end / gaming SSD HD's and the game now runs really well without any issue experienced yet
My PC is as follows:
AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS
AMD Radeon 6700S
40g RAM
WD Black SN850X 4TB hard drive
Windows 11
Why is this crashing?
Have a look at https://www.pcworld.com/article/2091390/pc-switches-off-when-playing-what-you-can-do.html
I'd better join official Old World Discord server, accept their rules first (necessary for uploading files) and post in technical chat.

You can also make use of the Discord link on Steam shop for Old World, in case you don't trust mine.
Pretty sure, the devs will find out about the issue you experience and how to fix it. Good luck!
Less frequently I get a green screen hang and it reboots, which i suspect is my CPU getting too hot, but this doesn't happen that often.
Tried setting the CPU affinity but haven't found it helps much.
Just have the main game, no DLC or mods installed.
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor
32GB RAM
AMD 5700XT GPU
Samsung SSD evo 970 1TB
WIN 11, latest update + on latest drivers and bios updates.
Kept an eye on CPU temps, crashing out between 63 - 88C, so yeah stock fan does need replacing & heat sink re doing this rig has been running since 2021, appreciate this might be contributing to the issues, room PC is in is kept at 18C, ambient CPU temp 50C
It does seem very random when it crashes, at times it will play all night with no issues, other times it will crash out a few turns in from loading or on the first end turn after loading.
I've also notices once it has crashed & I restart the game, its acts as if its lost my config settings (i lower the volume and its very loud again after a crash) the audio settings window shows where I had set the volume sliders but its ignored, the resume game option also disappears, it does hang & windows asks if I want to wait or close the game every time waiting for the file browser window to load so I can choose the saved game I want to play.
Currently playing Squirrel with a gun, Forza 5, Songs of styx, elite dangerous, I may get a green screen crash with these games 2 - 3 times a week but don't get the blue screen issues.
Will look at lowering CPU temps with a new fan but any other advice would be appreciated, I am too old & introverted for discord :P
The game is awesome but the crashes are driving me mad now.
Also like many others, I play many, many other games (more demanding, too) without any kind of issue.
Also, sometimes, when quitting the game, Steam still thinks it's running and I have to click Stop ; and even then it remains stuck in Stopping until I quit Steam. And some other times, when clicking Play, the game executable isn't run. Never seen that happen with any other game before.
AMD Ryzen 5 5700X
16GB RAM
AMD RX 7600
Fedora Linux 41
Currently working on troubleshooting the issue, but no luck yet. Will update if I can figure something out.
