Uh...it should've been the birth of Theano that caused it? Or the legitimacy of her.
Why isn't Pheretima in the line of succession? Is she illegitimate?
I just typed a whole bunch and accidentally deleted. I don't think I'll type as much this time...
The succession goes to your oldest kid, then their oldest kid, then that kid's oldest kid, etc. before it goes to siblings. Why don't you think Phila should be 1st? Because the Queen's sister isn't 1st in line (in Absolute Cognatic Primogeniture, which is what I always use myself and the way many RL monarchs work today).
If Cynane had any children, they'd be ahead of Machatas, but she doesn't, so that's why he'd be her heir (assuming neither of them die before she becomes queen). But Machatas DOES have children, so THEY take place before his younger sister.
Where I'm confused (and it just might be I don't know how to read it) is why isn't Pheretima 4th in line. I'm guessing she's not legitimate? Or another reason she can't become queen.
But yeah, after Theano it would be Stratonice, then Stratonice's son Derdas, then Phila. HOWEVER, if Theano has any kids, they will be higher up the line than Stratonice.
Stratonice basically lost her chance at the throne when her older brother started cranking out children.
EDIT: By the way, there's an option in-game to Stratonice the heir if you wanted to, but you would lose legitimacy doing it and make anyone above her in line mad at you. If you made Stratonice the heir, I THINK Derdas would immediately become 2nd in line since it's her son, then it would start back normal rules after that.
Probably was. Didn't notice quite what it happened.
But considering your explanations below, that would explain it, yes.
Correct, she's illegitimate.
I've been there too often myself... I feel your pain.
Thank you for trying again, even if it's less. I know how tempting it is to just give up when that happens.
That explains it, thank you.
I figured it went through a whole generation before going to the next, and not "eldest of the eldest". Just "eldest of a generation, then on to the next".
Sorry, I cut things off a bit by zooming in so the names wouldn't be too small.
Alexander is still alive, and immortal, since I'm on the tutorial. Phila is his niece, daughter of his long-gone brother.
Eryxo, the heir, is Alexander's daughter.
Gotcha. Makes sense, thank you.
Illegitimate, yes.
I'm aware, thank you. I'm not actually concerned about who the heir is right now, though, since Alexander's immortal in the tutorial.
I just figured this was a good time to understand how things work for when it actually matters.
F3.
