Can we just admire the brilliance here...
So, the way the Grand Vizier works is that it grants you (among other resources) Orders... which just that alone is exactly what a real Grand Viz in history was about... That one part alone simulates the nature of allowing you to lead a war better, so long as the GV builds you the units you need should the war go badly. But if you already have the units you need to prosecute the war, the GV can screw up certain things, and it's OK. For awhile...

That political tug of war potential if you screw up your misjudge your part is fantastic! So you can still build districts in your cities, but the underpinning nature of the flow of what you get to work with is out of your hands is JUST the right amount of power surrender to actually be tempting. I'm surprised how it is. The scaling of it, I hope grows as your empire grows.

Then on top of all of this the other resources you get depending on personality simulates the whole thing to a slam dunk. Aaaand the fact that there are characters so mortality awaits to solve even your worst decisions... yes. So good.

ALL the people who ever complained about the orders system for this game are just missing out on such a beautifully constructed system for play that is just... ah... Chefs Kiss. The interlocking components just sounds like the most beautiful clockwork gears all ticking together sometimes. Sheer elegance in design without bloat- yes complexity, but each piece is nearly as refined as you could get it. And the devs are still striving to further strip out uneeded bloat when it doesn't serve, while adding aimed new ideas.

Wow.

Now I would also like to see appointing a GV when you do it voluntarily as a stress reliever (say about 75% of the time).

So the GV is like an auto-governor who gives you free orders in exchange for you having no control over what to build?

gonna ignore this sarcasm. go troll elsewhere. no wait, i'll say one thing because of your glaring ignorance: you can still decide everything built with your workers, which is hugely important in shaping your empire. ok, now move on troll.

Oh and to to others who actually care: the scaling of the GV rewards for the various resources per city is awesome! It's like a candy store... but will the belly ache be worth it after the feast? Such fun.

There's some other stuff, like making life as Leader spicy ...... but yeah, that's the main part. :)

Why are you so angry? It seemed like a genuine question to me and you respond to it with this stinking bile of a post. Nasty.

Nope. He clearly purposely misread the post. I titled to admire brilliance and detailed why, and he "summarized" it as a lose.

Sorry not entering into gaslighting play here.

It's an asset and a delegation. You get some extra production but have to accept you no longer have full control. No sarcasm for the next words, I like it !

I don't like the Vizier title in Bronze Age game.

The one thing I dislike about the orders system is how, when I run out of orders and decide to undo some less important moves, I have to roll up the entire order chain to undo the ones I want, then redo the orders I do want to keep. Usually I tend to not bother and just try to do my turns roughly in order of importance. But that's actually just two very fun systems failing to be more than the sum of their parts.

Fair, but on the other hand it communicates the concept very clearly.

Exactly. Especially after one of the devs actually admitted that the question was right. But you know what they say, clowns will be clowns.

Vizier is fine. King, Queen, Prince, Princess, Duke, Duchess, Ambassador, General... none of these are accurate to the Bronze or Iron Age either. While it would be cool to have era accurate and nation-specific titles I suspect it would be detrimental to clarity in gameplay.

There's a couple of mods that do this.

I don't think this is trolling, I was going to ask something similar after reading you first post.

I'm not a troll, just a guy trying to understand the new gameplay mechanics before buying the new dlc.

It's definitely not trolling. If anything, Dizzy is the troll. It baffled me how butthurt he got after a comment which was just saying exactly what a vizier is.

And I don't like viziers. I kinda regret buying the DLC at all. It's pretty lame...

I also hate the orders system but this game has enough fun mechanis to it that I play it...sometimes. But never for very long. If they did away with orders, I'd play the game a lot more, and the game would be much more popular on the whole.
Tommy Jun 7, 2024 @ 3:05pm
Yep, you're right, Dizzy is the troll. Unfortunatelly, we got some trolls here from time to time. I remember once there was one here called Dorok, but I haven't seen him lately. Ban or ignore seem to be the best policy. But overall our community looks quite civil compared to other places.
