Steam Audio Unity: Occlusion too strong
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gd64iEGyY0s&t=88s

I run a Youtube channel focusing on 3D game audio and I've wanted to make some simple demonstrations of the Steam Audio plugin's capabilities. Unfortunately, while I haven't had any problems with HRTF, Reflections, and simple Sound Propagation, I have stumbled into an obstacle with the Occlusion effect.

It seems that with the default Unity settings (1 unit = 1 meter), Occlusion is just way too strong for my needs. Ideally, I would want something like this or what CSGO does. However, any kind of Material causes sound to become inaudible with the exception of Wood which causes just very, very strong Occlusion. The thickness of the Material doesn't seem to matter; 1 unit, 0.1 units, and 0.001 units all have the same effect. In addition, using Partial doesn't change anything and all three Frequency Transmission options have the same effect. Someone else on my 3D audio Discord server had the same exact problem in a demo they made, too.

You can increase the acoustic transmission of your surface by using a custom material. For example, start with Wood, then select Custom (the wood settings should be copied as a starting point for your custom setting), and move the transmission sliders over to the right to increase the material's transmission of sound in the low, mid and high frequency bands. This applies to direct sound. Enabling reflections allows sound to reflect around the occulsion, if the scattering setting is higher. Pre-export and test.
