Occlusion isn't working
Hi there!
Just tested Phonon and it's really great.
I just have one problem.
When I try to add Occlusion the sound goes completely off.

For testing purposes, I've made some walls (with an open door in one of the walls), floor and ceiling, added Materials and everything.
Then I created an Audio Source inside this space , added the Phonon Source and started playing.
Everything goes well about spatialization and so.
But when I add occlusion the sound doesn't play anymore.

Whan am I doing wrong?

Cheers

@maestrobilly Just to be sure, have you pre-exported the scene from the Phonon tab? If so, did any error messages appear in the Unity Console tab when you pre-exported the scene?

If you have pre-exported the scene successfully, can you provide more details on what the source and listener positions are when you are unable to hear sound? Is the source visible to the player through the open door? Or is one of the walls in the way?
Thanks for the reply Lakulish.
So, I've started a scene from scratch with Phonon tab already placed at it.

Yes, I've pre-exported the scene to Phonon and the error persists.

My Audio Source is half visible from the open door inside a room, and I don't hear sounds as long as my Direct Sound Occlusion of Phonon Source is something different than "Off".

Using Unity 5.6.2f1 (Mac)

Can the door be opened and closed? If so, when you pre-export the scene in the editor, is the door open, or closed?
What I call door is just an open space between two walls. There's no material there. Unfortunately, I can't publish screenshots here but it is a simple room with this wall separated by an open space with a radio in the middle.
I hear the loop of the radio when Occlusion is Off.
When I turn Occlusion to On there's no sound.
Also, re-reading the manual, there says that my Audio Listener must have a Phonon Mixer as a Component. Can't seem to find it anywhere to add.
Maybe that's the problem?
Continuing my tests. I've created a Probe, rendered everything inside it. Still not functioning.
Just to be sure, what version of Steam Audio are you using?

You shouldn't need to add any components to the Audio Listener or create any Probes for occlusion to work. Let us know if the documentation for the latest version (2.0 beta 6) is inconsistent in this regard.

We will try to recreate this issue on our end, and keep you posted. Meanwhile, is there a simplified version of this scene that you can share? It will help us diagnose the issue better.
I'm using 2.0 beta 6, just downloaded from the site.
It will probably be something I'm doing wrong, not any kind of glitch or bug from your side, but I would really like to know what's the issue.
I can send you the Dropbox link. Here or to any specific email?
Thanks for all your help and support.
Hi there.
Just created another test from scratch and now it is working.
Thanks for all help and support.
Ah, good to know that it's working now. Were you able to figure out what you were doing differently that caused the issue?
Hi i am having the opposite problem of what this thread was originally asking. Occlusion works fine for me (Using UE4) after i have used the Phonon Geometry on all my walls (Static Meshes) and i have attached a Phonon source component to an audio source in my scene. my only problem is i am not getting or hearing proper sound propagation and spatialization in my scene. after i finish playing, i get this error in my output log:

LogSteamAudio:Error: Unable to find environmental renderer for occlusion. Audio will not be occluded. Make sure to export the scene.
LogSteamAudio:Error: Unable to find environmental renderer for reverb. Reverb will not be applied. Make sure to export the scene.

mind you that i do export the scene before playing and i am baking reverb, but when i am corner, i don't hear anything? even after baking reverb i should be able to hear around the corners of my walls. I even turned off Occlusion thinking that occlusion was causing this problem but after i turn it off, i was able to hear the audio source but not properly spatialized as i should.

what am i doing wrong?
Hi Metalgunner,

I know that in Unity you have to create a Probe (like those for light) around all the scene (or room) you want to have Phonon to work. Then you add the "Steam Audio Probe" as a component, and create the Probes. Then you'll probably be able to hear the reverb and occlusions. If the reverb isn't still present, try to bake it too.

At least in Unity it worked.

:)

Good luck.
Hi where does the Phonon export go. As I have a launch level and it seems not to be honoring the level that that level teleports to but rather the splash screen graphics setting level that is launched.
