The is a screen in the game that shows a code you can give to your friend and be born into the game alongside them. However, you are entirely reliant on your mother looking after both of you!
There are times when I wish I could stick around as a spirit to see what happens to everyone after I am gone, but in the end, it is much more affecting that you do not. You just make do with the time you have. Generally people play the game very positively and are trying to make progress for the next generation.
Definitely a different game experience that is more about the sum of all your lives and being a part of something larger than yourself.
However, game is ment to be played as a brand new life every time you are born with different family.
To expound on tana's point, the lineage ban only affects the family line you were a part of, not all families at the same location. This is why villages with multiple lines tend to last longer, as competent players can bounce between families and continue working on the same town many lives in succession.
The lineage ban itself is up to 90 minutes, based on server population. The formula is 90 * [(Pop - 10)/40, max 1] to determine how long you're locked out. I believe murder victims double that time. If there's 10 or fewer people on when you die, there's no lineage ban at all.
Oh okay that makes sense.
