The game does provide you all the information you need to get going. The rest you're supposed to learn as you go through and experience different lives. Talk to your parents and family members, have them teach you.
The stuff you find on websites are the equivelent of "spoilers" for movies. They're there if that's the route you want to go, and there's absolutely nothing wrong doing so, but it isn't the intended way of consuming the media.
This doesn't make sense to me. Maybe I am misunderstanding. I have never made an axe or a shovel. I made a simple hatchet so that I could cut up kindling and start a fire, lighting the torch at the end of the tutorial. At that point it says that you are free to kill yourself and enter the game with the handy pit of snakes directly to the right. If you continue on past that point.. then there is more to do.. but a steel axe and steel shovel are not required to exit the tutorial and enter the live game world with other players.
below the fire if i recall correctly, that lets you out of the tutorial into the main game, there is a way to exit the walls of the tutorial, so you can continue to play around while in the tutorial, which requires an axe and shovel to break through.
The turtorials are spawned within the "real world", but you don't need to escape the tutorial to start in a the real game. You can choose to do it that way.
You only need to die (via any method) after lighting the torch, and you can then choose to be reborn. When you reborn you will be in the main world.
Anything past the lighting of the torch in the tutorial is optional.
There is an easter egg for advanced players that you can 'unlock' if you know how to make advanced tools such as the Axe and the Shovel, but those are NOT required to complete the tutorial.
I didn't mention that as it would just confuse people, since it is not something that is relevant for first time players.
If you're trying to beat the tutorial, just make a Hatchet. Once you've played for a few hours in the main game and learned some things, try going back to the tutorial and exploring a bit. :)
Yes, you are correct. He wasn't talking about completing the tutorial, though, but breaking out of the optional area. You need an axe and a shovel to do that. Everything you need to make them is in the optional area - except easy access to the recipes.
I've broken out of the tutorial zone several times. If there had been anyone else in the area, I could have gone out and interacted with them. In other words, in the tutorial you are already 'in the real game'... you're just usually a long, long way from anybody else.
Now, in order to be born as something other than a tutorial Eve (unable to have children at all), you do need to light the torch and be reborn - but that has nothing to do with escaping the tutorial zone. :) Oh, and if you break out but forgot to light the torch, you'll have to go through the tutorial again (but you can speed-rush to lighting the torch and suiciding if you want).
When I spawn as a new baby I try to stay around desert tiles to keep myself warm, and I will bounce between tiles to keep it into the middle as much as possible and try to communicate with my parent for food when I am just at 2 food bars remaining so they can do some work without much need to baby sit me.
