How do you snare a rabbit?

I built a snare and placed it on a family rabbit hole. Waited and waited but nothing ever comes out. I remember in the past that this used to work... Is there a new recipe needed in order to get a rabbit to come out?

Smash burdock on flat rock to get rabbit bait then use either a water skin to make a bait bag OR carry the flat rock with bait over to the rabbit hole to bait it.

Rabbit bait is also made out of mashed bowl of berries + carrot in case burdock is all used up.
