But even as is, it's better than not having the system. We've always had people who afk around the town, but it's way less now.
The only problem I've really seen so far, is that people are keeping WAY more kids now, which quickly turns a town into a wasteland if food isn't taken care of. I've seen two towns turn to dust during my lifetime because of overpopulation.
I lost about 5 cousins due to starvation even though there was enough food for them to live. While this isn't an issue losing 10 whole points because of it feels ♥♥♥♥♥♥ when I lived to the age of 60.
Besides that I do agree with the system being easy to exploit but imo that's on you for valuing the genetic fitness number more than game-play.
Two of the five longest every family lines ever are from after this update, and the average family lifespan seems to have gone up by ~10 generations.
Sure, some people might not care about genetic fitness, but so far it seems most do.
1) Make it so kids can't even move until they can feed themselves. They have to rely on their mother for food and movement. This way new babies can't just run off and die, and mothers have a chance to keep them alive long enough to feed them.
2) Make it so that you only lose points from a baby death if you don't feed the child. Once the baby is old enough to feed itself, you shouldn't lose more than 1 point if it dies, as that's on them.
You can check the leaderboards in the same way you access photos and family trees (there’s a tab on the official Ohol site).
