Direct3D Error on Linux?
I'm a linux user who keeps running into this error everytime I attempt to launch the game:

"Failed to initialize Direct3D.
Make sure you have at least DirectX 9.0c installed, have drivers for your
graphics card and have not disabled 3D acceleration
in display settings.
InitializeEngineGraphics failed"

Has anyone else seen this in this or another game? Does anyone have a fix? No googling I've done has seemed to lead me to an aswer. I'd really appreciate the help.

use protontricks to ensure that DX9+ is installed for this game. download the protontricks on flatpak if you don't have it, the other versions have been abandoned.

I installed protontricks but I... Honestly have no clue what I'm doing once I open it up unfortunately. I'm not exactly an expert at linux stuff, I just installed it on my computer a while back to make it run a bit better cause it's a bit of a clunker. (If you're curious as to how I have so much playtime for FP2 on my account, it's cause I borrowed a relative's windows computer).

That said, thank you anyway for the advice, I really appreciate it!

I found a workaround for this (on Fedora 38 with Steam from Flathub). Right-click Freedom Planet 2 in your library and choose Properties. On the Compatibility page, tick “Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool”, and choose Proton 7.0.
