No word on workshop, but a hard no for FP1, the major issue with the game we have already is a resistance to code insertion.
And yes, we are purposefully moving away from the derivative sonic fangame style and making FP a series that stands on its own.
I feel like it's not as creative as it is harmful to the series...
As I said, I haven't really seen... any of the Chinese flair in any of the footage released for this game (including the 2017 update video), and that combined with the "new" art style seems to make it just look like every other game.
*reviews video*
Well, you all definitely didn't forget the charm aspect in the process of making a new art style...
Oh wait, that one stage that looked like Route 99 or City Escape is just a washed-out (white & blue) Shang Mu with some buildings that look... less Chinese in the foreground! Okay...
Also, really cool part with how the museum transfers to outdoor. That's always neat...
Anyway, yeah, suspicions confirmed, it looks like the game just does to Freedom Planet what Mega Man X did to Mega Man. Whether that's good or bad is entirely up to you.
(1:52) Aw man! Look! It's a Mega Man Battle Network stage! Never mind anything bad I may have said about it, I know you guys can make this game good now... (I'm dead serious.)
And yes, I have only heard electric guitars here... even Shang Mu's theme (in the BattleSphere section, really cool concept BTW) uses instruments that just don't sound FP1. Again, Mega Man X comparision.
Yeah, watching this video I'm still super excited for FP2.
Workshop support might be nice, but not neccessary to make this a great game.
I’m sorry you feel that way, we are not changing the aesthetic.
I assure you it is in the new game, despite your personal observations.
You’re entitled to feel that way about these things, however you seem to be making by a lot of overanalysed judgements based on looking far too hard at footage from early production while trying to make a comparison I’m not even sure many would agree with as a negative stick. I must also say that your statement about the music is way off, especially what sounds we’re used in the level music composition. It kind of feels like you’re assuming the overture that was made for the trailers is somehow the level music, it is not.
I suggest playing through the Sample version for a better idea.
I already did play the sample version, maybe the videos should be more consistent with that?
Granted, I am just listening to the trailer stuff mostly because that's all there has been for me to hear aside from a boss theme, a menu theme and Dragon Valley.
I dunno... also, you can't get much more American than baseball. I think...
Anyway, super exicted to play a Battle Network stage.
I'm sorry I keep bringing that up
Still super excited for FP2, despite some changes I don't care for as much. Just giving some feedback I guess.
This is definitely not the same for me as Scratch 3.0 or even Sonic Mania. (In case you don't understand, that's a positive.)
And yes, there are people on Scratch who aren't senseless kids.
Though I guess you can call me one if you want...

It's an extremely popular sport in all of Asia.
I just thought... Never mind...
I was wrong I guess...
I should leave you all to be the devs, and stay the confused fan...
You should have a know-it-all NPC that says something like that.
Because every game with a hub needs a Mr. Know-It-All. Very important.
I can't wait for FP2, just to see how the hubworlds turn out.
I mean, you have a Battle Network stage, so it has to be good.
Streamlined BattleChip stage gimmick?
Consider.
(In all seriousness, I think it would be a lot of fun to mess around with Chips like StepSword, which teleports you forward for an attack, then warps you back. You could go through walls temporarily and stuff, it always works unless there's an object or wall right where it tries to teleport you to. So basically, for a little puzzle example, you could place a switch in a room that is entirely closed off. To press the switch, the player would need to obtain, by some means, a StepSword Chip or some sort of equivalent. Then they could come back to the switch and use the Chip to go straight through the wall and press the switch. I just think this would be sorta fun, maybe more fitting in an actual Mega Man game though. The last thing you'd want is having to deal with Capcom. ...Despite that they haven't done anything with Battle Network for years and... Darnit, now I'm angry at another company...)
Except for Lilac's new design. I really don't care for that at all. I think it's mostly the hair.
Even if some designs changed, I don't want to see FP2 loses that thing that made FP great. The character design was amazing and while I don't mind changes, I really want to find that amazing adorableness FP1 had. Each characters were unique too and I want to experience that again.
As for Neera, I'm not sure I see the problem someone has with her. She is rather cute, she has ice powers. She doesn't seem like she changed much from FP1 to FP2, small details aside. She looks slightly less serious maybe? That could just be her being more chill. No pun intended.
I just want a sequel that looks like the FP1 and continues the story of the original instead of going down another path. That's all.
I think it might just be a fun project to take on, and also, I'm not saying Neera wouldn't be in the proposed game. Those decisions come later, I'm just saying it'd be nice to have an adventure that includes Torque and Spade. And maybe some other characters, just for the heck of it.
(I still think Mayor Zao and General Gong would be awesome, hilarious characters to include.)
Anyway, I mostly just hope FP2 lives up to FP1, but I still think FP1.5 and/or a mod that includes FP1-style graphics would be fun.
I have to hold firm thought that we are not returning to the old art style. It's simply not on the table. Sorry guys but that's the breaks.
Even if the artstyle was different, I want to find this same adorableness FP1 had. Art improvement is not new to gaming and I am not so much bothered by it as long as it keeps the characters' personalities intact. Games and their sequels didn't always keep the same look, after all.
The concept of treasure being a problem (or maybe even your demise) is something that really interests me, as I haven't seen it in many video games... of this sort, at least. I just kinda want that game, not that there's anything bad about FP2's story.
