How do I choose the starting goalie?

I assigned one of my goalies the starting goalie position, but the game chooses the goalie I assigned as backup goalie instead, every single time. What's happening there?

During a contract negotation or setting it in game can help you sell or make a goalie happy. You can set the goalie on the Depth Chart if you're the coach. If you're playing GM only, the coach makes that decision. You can also mess around with the goalie start settings, but typically coaches will ride the hot hand.

Yeah I messed with the starting settings and it worked. My 3 star goalie is worse than my two star goalie, sooo I had to replace him.


Anyhow, I have an issue.

So here, I offered a player the contract he wanted but he refused because I set him to a certain role, and then he asks me he wants to be assigned the same role he just complained about. Because of that, I cant renew his contract.

You can likely re-sign him later if he gets upset. Just wait a bit.
