Useful use of a trollbox? useful use of distraction? USELESS.

I don't think I've ever seen trollbox used successfuly, does anyone have any examples?
All it takes is someone copy pasted what some one said, and we go ""TB" and everyone moves on.

Maybe TB needs more than 1 use? It would cause a lot more confusion like it's supposed to.

Also I think the unseen 10 second distract is pretty useless, I don't think I've ever seen this do anything practical, even if you could use both in a single day it's only 20 seconds out of the entire day, so you really are not going to stop anyone from saying anything they can't just say in 20 seconds, it's useless.

I think the Assassin's distraction ability should be replaced or simply removed altogether. And well, trollbox used to be worse. (I'm not saying it's good right now either)

distraction would be a great ability to squelch people during the day, it just needs to be longer, and maybe they can't vote people up during this distraction either! I'm thinking 1 use, lasts all day.

Basically a reaper chill, but with limites uses. Works fine, but... I thought something more unique would be nice.

No one questioned it and I had a bad claim ready ;) I bet there are ways to use it properly, just saying "10 is Unseen!" ain't one of them.

Depends on if we are talking about fool trollbox, or scorned trollbox? :P it' fairly easy to get executed as fool. just afk XD

I've had a lot of good successes with trollboxes, the key to remember is BD is looking for contradictions. You give people seemingly mundane things that go un-noticed for that day, then call them out later for contradicting it, simple things like "I was occupied", or something implying or stating their class. All of which fly way under the radar, until they post their logs and you call out (or make someone else call out) didn't you say you were occupied n2, why do your logs claim to have visited someone... etc...

The easiest way I've been able to successfully use trollbox is by making simple, unassuming statements. Overt "7 is unseen!" is a statement that the community is conditioned to doubt. But the king saying "somebody check 7 tonight" after receiving 3 or 4 whispers is something most people won't take as a trollbox. Then you frame, and easy peasey.

I've used it very successfully to get voted up when playing as a fool. If I make myself look guilty and someone catches it, and mentions something in text, I'll trollbox a different player into saying the exact same thing. You get two people saying the same thing in short order, you get voted up in a hurry.

Trollbox can work great, just have to make sure to use it in places where it doesn't stand out. If you use it at the beginning of a day when no one is talking, it will probably be useless.

But if at the end of a day the king is talking, just casually slip in "also check X tonight guys", then follow up with a frame, usually someone takes the bait. Sometimes BD catches it, but it works mostly in my experience.

Othen fun thing to do is during a vote when people are not sure and king is not talking slip in "exe this definetly evil" or something like that at the last seconds. People usually vote with king if they dont know what to do.

Other than that there are tons of great uses, you just need to read the flow of the game, so what you make them say sound like what they really would say.

I have used Trollbox to secure a win by using it on the king in the last 5 seconds or so of an execute vote. Just say "exec this", especially if king has been quiet, and people will vote guilty.

Also, I like using it on reaped people.

Trollbox can be devastatingly effective if used well- and obviously it has to be much more subtle than "4 is unseen exe him":

- incriminate yourself "X has been quiet all game" / "we need X's class" / "X, we haven't got your class yet" --> follow this by a princess / knight claim backed up with horrendous logs
- trollbox the king into saying "(wait,) exe this" during the final 10 seconds of a trial (works surprisingly well)
- use vague phrases like "I checked X he's not fool, exe" or "got some info on him, he's not fool"
- make someone contradict a person's logs "(WAIT) exe him, I wasn't occupied/debauched N3" / "I'm not support/social (though). exe this"

Unseen distract is a bit useless though yes, usually it only draws attention to the fact that there's an assassin about.

Trollbox is only limited to your creativity, timing, and subtly~ it has unlimited potential to be awesome, and I've seen it many times be incredible. If you're too blunt, it probably won't work. If you use it too early or without other people talking much, it gives people too much time to think and they consider Fool fast. Do it when people are talking, when it's a critical moment, and when people are arguing. Be subtle.

And what about the useless distraction devs? silence someone for 10 seconds? absolutely useless.

Also I don't see that working as a scorned, just takes someone smart to copy paste it, and confirm a trollbox. /w 03 blah blah, is pretty obvious.

I think anyone can fully agree that distraction is silly and virtually unusable... But with that I'd also say... it shouldn't be there, it makes no sense to be there to begin with, assasain isn't incomplete without it, he's not a social class, he doesn't lack team mates, and certainly doesn't have too few abilities without distraction. I'd say just remove the button and the skill, no further changes needed.

The only possible use that comes to mind for distraction to me, is to give evils a possible excuse when say getting put up and not having the right kind of log ready. (say the MM made his logs for princess, hasn't publicly claimed, and is now getting called out by a confirmed drunk). He can scramble to get a half way buyable log for 10 seconds, paste it, then say "sorry distracted". to explain why it took 15 seconds to copy/paste a log.


I still stand by trollbox's use and existance. Yeah fake whisper again fails in subtlety, takes a dumb BD to pull off that old trick.

I've gotten people killed with trollboxes so many times, the biggest key to it is, not to use something that will be the center of discussion on the day you are using the TB, but will remember. Lots of simple things, soft claims... etc... there's tons of things that nobody thinks twice about, until it comes into conflict with something later on.
