Is this game definitivily dead?
Somebody is still working it? Or everybody abandoned the project? The game seems pretty dead here on Steam.

they average about 100 players (but most or all have multiple accounts). Game is dead. I like to know how they can afford to keep the server running.

I really like this game and I keep trying to come back. I just can't handle the poor optimisation/horrid server lag which causes it to become unplayable...

I played a lot when the was game released on the official site, was so good, a lot of players, guids, pvps, champs, etc. Today i logged the first time on steam and for my surprise, i cant see anyone at the citys, banks, mines. Sad. But a lot of good plots for houses, mines without pks, etc :) not bad at all. I want to play again, if anyone wanna play together let me know. Ethereal Moon US server :steammocking:

People were really excited for the game before the steam launch etc. But it took too long to finish and by the time it was done it wasnt even the same game RIP

It's dead, Jim. And the player run UO server is stringing people along promising a Britannia map that is never going to materialize.

I have no hope this game will be running very much longer.

I really do like the game, I seem to be able to get on without too much of an issue during the week, but as the week goes on it seems to get laggy for some reason.

I enjoy working on my mage. The game is what you make of it. I am having fun but I only have 17 hours of play so far. It is slow to level and needs a lot of optimization. If you have the patience I would guess you could get around 100 hours of entertainment out of it with the current content. You will get low frames and there are bugs. But the strategy and exploration are worth it in my opinion.

Game is 100% dead, the lack of keeping promises made, and release paid DLC content instead of adding those things instead ran off the remaining people that didn't have 10 accounts multiboxing.. there are like a dozen people playing with multiple accounts.. trying to hold on to that old UO feeling..

Speaking as someone who still logs in and plays occasionally, this game is on life support. The playerbase has dwindled down to about 3-4 active guilds. The developers recently announced that the much anticipated content release they had been working on which included a Necromancer class, has been scrapped. Instead, Citadel Studios sent out a survey to poll players on what issues should be fixed, where development time should be spent, what changes the game needs, etc.

IMHO the biggest issue this game suffered from early on was developers who were completely out of touch with their own game. It was crystal clear that while the devs may have had an understanding of the systems within the game, they had no clue how the game actually felt and played to an actual player. IE... they clearly were not running around as actual players to understand the pain points of the game, what needed to be fixed, etc.

I have no idea what Citadel Studios has been working on, but it isn't Legends of Aria. Communications from the team have almost completely stopped except for the community manager, Liz, who frankly has provided very little useful information about the current state or future of the game. It feels like Citadel is going to just milk the remaining handful of whales still clinging to their vast in-game properties for as long as they can.

i have a feeling its been sorta like this since before the steam "re-relaunch" :

"Oi dudes this if forked, we have no idea how to actually make a game like this work IRL..."

"Eeeh lets just continue talk big and pretend, do a few hours of pretend work on it each week and see how much alcohol money we can fleece out of the steam community.."

"yea that worked great on kickstarter and the pre steam EA pledges lol, surely there are still some people out there who dont know about our con"

"how about we tell em its a PVE game this time to get the all PVE players too, and then make a sort of subscription model?"

"yea good idea, and a cash shop lol"

"even if we only get one new victim each month, that a free bottle of vodka."

"yeah, lol, might aswell keep it going"

like the great george michael once said, "you gotta have faith"... then a year later he blew all of his money on hookers and booze, and eventually got fat and forgotten...
