Same here, thats what sold me also. Haven't really played much of the game it self, but from what I did see I do like the game.
even some of the biggest community servers on different games have bigger pop than officials have. There are many reasons behind hosting their own.
i have been hoster for over a 8-10years (i have my own server machines etc)
just most of times, those devs who make the game will start to feed only one group of players while forgetting others.
And from that point, the modding aspect comes to play. and its not really an a mmo, servers have playerlimit.
Its same as ark or same as conan exiles. wow is real mmo, so does gw2 etc.
The Community Server Program is currently in closed beta. It is under NDA and has limited participation while we work on the core of the game, but there are community servers that are playable right now, and those admins are making absolutely incredible worlds.
We're very proud to be creating a game that will be a solid foundation for everyone to be able to create their own worlds once this program is open to the public, and as soon as we have a solid date for that opening up, we'll be sure to let you all know!
Thanks
The tools and stuff will be free correct? when the time comes? just curious.
i wouldn't bet on it considering all the back and forth scamming the devs have done already
