you state that outlands is superior... and you said.. graphics... LOL... as far as mechanics... this could be somewhat true i mean.. UO was developed back in the 90's so they had plenty of time to flesh out mechanics... but does that mean its superior... economy system?? so i did a search on outlands first thing i saw was a youtuber playing it from last year and trash littered all over town.. looks like ♥♥♥♥..
the one thing your post gave me was a sense of how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ far ahead LoA is from old UO as far as graphics ... and LoU is quickly making things more and more UO style then anything else..
but your not really trying to be convinced to play LoU.. if your still playing UO you most likely are there for the community that you enjoy being around and would never leave it unless the server was shut down... your here to promote some dead old as ♥♥♥♥ gaming server here.. to try and get players there to play since it is free( illegally )
Ugh, sorry but 2D graphics looks better than somewhat outdated 3D graphics with clunky movement and bad animations. You need clearly see what enemy player is doing and where is it moving, it must be easy to recognize. Even if there's multiple characters in same area.
It depends what video you saw, because it depends on what client he played. There's newly coded clients like ClassicUO and OrionUO. On old and on official clients, game looks like ♥♥♥♥.
Do you really think that target group of LoU and UO is playing it because of graphics?
How is it illegal. Server emulator is done from Zero by community, clients are coded by community. Only thing is maybe graphics assets, but it has multiple custom made assets. I'm not a lawyer.
The shard is not dead, it's most active UO server right now.
I want to be conviced, but probably looking for somebody who played UO and LoU, more than 1hr.
Btw there're patches with forum writeups nearly every two days.
Constantly polishing gameplay mechanics, stats, PvP automatic events (castle siege, town struggle, etc.)
Devs and ingame GMs are directly responding on Discord.
As it stands at the moment though, with the classic uo client (the open source .net one) working on pretty much any shard out there, I really don't see a reason to switch to LoU. UO feels fantastic right now. We have 60fps, modern features and we didn't need to sacrifice the charming visuals for it.
The only possible reason you could have to check out LoU right now is the community I guess. It's a new-ish server and game, so people are pretty excited about its future. It's very, very well made when you consider the constraints they had to work with (within Aria).
I would say, if you're interested in giving legends of aria a shot, then LoU might add to the value proposition of buying aria. It's always nice to have options, and aria's community servers give you options.
If you're only interested in playing UO though, then stick to UO. It will be a long, long time before LoU even reaches the level of UO renaissance, let alone outlands. I have aria, and don't regret buying it, but it's no UO.
BUt to op. play both... i do. i actively play all uo freeshards.. 2 official uo shards...shroud of the avatar... and this... all games bring me slight joy for their own seperate reasons while tickling the era of uo ;p
the official game i stear clear of as it legit is following the route of trammel uo went with but still supported by buying this game.. an we know how taht goes... LOU the community server has a good set of devs dedicated to the theme of uo. working on the original map and have a good chunk of dungeons done were expected to have that in some time.. im enjoying it for the experience. not a full copy but someting i deff enjoyed playing. when the brit map goes live i will be sure to have a lot of videos around of the map. im sure that is when lou will draw in more of a larger crowd. since peopel will probably want ot see the recreated brit map in full glory. pvp. and pve. i know the new client and map can pull well over 100 fps. which in a uo standpoint will be amazing knowing the classic was locked to 30 fps.
i can say... my total hours in this game... are stricktly on lou. i dont even have a player char made on official loa servers since they merged.

this one in perticular is nice

in the end. this will blow outlands out of the water graphically. and preformancly. knowing... the classic client in outlands still caps out at 45 fps. while this game can easily pull 100+ giving that more fluid look and atmosphere. while i play both.. i can say... LOU will look better recorded or streamed. I will always still play uo. but when this stuff all drops live. it will take me more from it.
So if you want to have a new experience in UO other than replaying the past over and over and you want to be a part in shaping its future then I'd try LOU.
P.S. Outlands has crazy population and i don't think that can be beat. What's it at 1000 concurrents on average? Yeah... all of LOA, combining official and community, are closer to 300 concurrents.
If that's how you feel, you shouldn't. Those that don't feel UO Outlands is superior in all things may want to play LoU instead, if it is more suited to their taste.
Seeing as you are not speaking from direct experience with both I don't know that your opinion of their comparative merits will carry much weight.
I'm playing on ClassicUO client with constant 130FPS
Do you really like that graphics style? It seems ugly to me, I don't know why.
I had same problem when Red Alert 3 came out and graphics just seemed ugly to me, I finished first mission and uninstalled.
Red Alert 2 2D sprites were just fine.
Weirdly, of course I played a lot of 3D games, but didn't have any problem with them.
Even WoW, which a lot of my friends consider ugly (around TBC). But I liked it.
Second video graphics looks good.
I probably looked only on gameplay videos where people turned down their graphics settins.
MMORPG market is filled with casual BS games, which are obviously very much played, because people don't want to be scared to loose their equip and current way of mmo community thinking that anybody who kills other people is griefer and should be banned is ridiculous.
PK. thieves, crafters, PvM players and everything if done right, are creating functional economy system.
Where people can play how they want and be what they want.
true, I'll check it out myself.
