Garage Key missing?

So in my playthrough of Chapter 1, I completely missed the garage key and when I went back to get it, the cabinet it's supposed to be in wouldn't budge. I still completed Lucy's chapter. I've yet to pickup the key with the small mirror, and the key is still not there and isn't in the dryer like the note says on the garage door. Anyone else experiencing this or have any solution for me? I'd hate to have to start a new save. :(
