RECENT KEY BIND ISSUES.

i have played VISAGE through, all the way, one time. Recently, I decided to start over. However, for some reason, now the key binds are all messed up. When I enter a new key to bind to say "DROP" it won't drop in game, even though it shows the key I chose as the option. However, I found that if I assign Q to EXAMINE, in game, the Q will drop what I am carrying. It's like something corrupted the binding feature. Resetting to default makes no progress. Keys bound still won't do what they are supposed to. Has something happened to the game recently, to change the key bind system? Where is the key bind data stored. Maybe a direct edit would fix it? This did not happen when I was playing before. I also noticed that in the TV room, beer cans are hovering off the floor. If you pick one up, and then drop it, it lands a few inches off the floor. Never saw this before either. Like the plain of the floor is above the floor's graphical representation. Something really odd has happened. I tried a full uninstall, and re-install, but no help there either. I deleted the VISAGE FILE in steamapps/common, but nothing there. Something is holding my saved games too. If I delete the VISAGE file shouldn't my save games vanish too, along with all my personal settings? This is frustrating and sad. Anyone have the same issues, or know what to do to fix them? Did SADSQUARE stop caring about this game? Never hear from them anymore, and nobody seems to be fixing bugs.
What gives? I am going to try one more fix. When I started the game, first time, I started RAKKEN's chapter first. Maybe starting there, instead of with DELORES, was key to avoiding all the hassle with the binding and graphic issues. A clean start in a different chapter might carry through to all the other chapters....

Slept on this. Wondering if there was an update, or a UNREAL update, or if data from the Steam Cloud is messing up the original program. In other words, I am not getting a CLEAN, BRAND NEW INSTALL. The game is playable, but you have to fudge around to get the functions linked to a key, and there are some functions that won't work no matter what you do. Like the CHANGE HANDS command. You can bind any key to it, but in game, nothing happens when you use it.

Ok. One issue figured out. The "Floating cans" is a result of starting the Dolores chapter first. I previously started with Rakken, and it was not there. I tested and confirmed. If you start w/Dolores, and you go into the TV room, the beer cans are hovering over the floor. It is most noticeable if you turn on the TV, and look at the cans, and their shadows. Probably would never have noticed this previously, in any case, as I was new to the game, and was so busy messing with figuring other things out. It is a bug, but not a very big one. I drop that matter, and will see about the bindings. I have the game playable, but the Q button seems to be doing most everything, including reading the comic. Problem is, when you enter the comic, and hit Q to read it, it drops away. You have to re-engage the comic and the Q is already active. Then you can read. Then, to drop the comic, hit Q, but then you are stuck with the comic text screen on your HUD, until you pick up something else. It's clunky, and a bit sad, but you can play.

I sent a note to SADSQUARE to see if they can advise any help for the keybinds. I do see other people are having trouble, but mostly with the fact they don't like the interaction system at all. It is rather hard to deal with, and now I can't switch hands. That's a problem, but not a game killer, at least I don't think so. Will report if I get any response.

I am currently doing experiments to find the cause of my problem with keybinds. I think it may not be just Visage that is affected. I am finding other games where I now see that keybinds of certain types are not working. This is taking me to a new direction of thinkning. Either I have a virus, or Windows, or McAfee has done something to my computer that makes a certain combination of a game's action, and a keybind into some sort of a null. Blocking the bind like it is some sort of threat. Next tests are to remove McAfee and see what happens, and if that does not work, then I need to do a restore to Windows, and see if I can find a restore point that removes the problem. No word from SadSquare. Nothing is ever easy.

Now I seem to have fixed the issue, but without much actual sense to it. Re-installed the game a few times after fully deleting. Also messed around with binding an unbinding different keys. With all of the juggling I did, something changed, and suddenly I was binding keys without problems. I guess some software is so unsteady that it can lose it's coherence, and find it again. Sorry I couldn't get a more solid solution. END LINE....

To resolve keybind (if you want to restore to default as well), open software, open key bindings, reset to default, close, uninstall the software and then go to %LOCALAPPDATA% and delete the visage folder. Re-install and you shouldn't have any issues. I was having this problem as well and this resolved it for me.
