I find a candle, light it with the lighter, then when I pick it up it almost immediately goes out. If I opt to not pick it up and leave it on the counter/floor instead, it stays lit longer but eventually goes out and doesn't seem to help my sanity at all. I keep dying from Lucy preying on my fragile mind, lol
It's a little frustrating too because I'll be standing there in the kitchen with a light overhead that's as bright as the friggin sun, with a lit candle and a lighter, and I'll still be seeing the pop-ups about my sanity rapidly decreasing. Can't progress any further in the game because of it at the moment.
-The lighter is a handheld item, you can switch this between both hands, the right hand is your dominant/use hand, the left is just there for easy switching.
-The candle is not a handheld, meaning if you pick it up, you can't switch it between hands and it will always remain infront of you. While holding this you can't open doors or interact with anything.
When using a candle, you must equipt it and equipt a lighter, flick the lighter and light the candle. After this, you can simply flick down the lighter and use the candle to both raise your sanity and make it through dark areas. However, when doing this you will need to put it down to open doors, immediately after opening the door and repicking back up the candle you can relight it and continue on your way.
It's a bit finnicky, I think that will be fixed up during EA. But that's how I've been using them and it works fairly well, if not taking some time to get used to.
