Any tips on avoiding Dolores
I just got the space toy from the graveyard and I was in the living room and heard the kitchen furniture talking in the next room. I walked to the kitchen and got killed before getting to the door. I thought ok fine that was only my 2nd time dying so no big deal right? Wrong. I loaded my save and started in the basement after getting the space toy. I was walking to where I was and died again before reaching the living room. I thought ok weird but its fine. Nope! I loaded the same save and got killed before reaching the bathroom portal! At this point I'm considering restarting my game and going to Lucy's or Rakans chapter. Any tips on avoiding Dolores

I think once she spawns you gotta just run from her and like hide in a room or something. Or try taking a pill if your sanity is super bad.

I would recommend running into a mirror if you hear her beginning to stalk, as she doesn't go into the mirror worlds. You might also want to take some pills, as well.
Ok ill see if it works lets hope it works

Oh yea I forgot about running into a broken mirror. That saved my hide a few times. Once you pass into the world the music should calm right down and she should ♥♥♥♥ off for a while.

She can't chase you for a long time. Just run from her and try not to go to the kitchen with talking appliances cause your movement will be blocked as you enter and you won't be able to escape.
I just wish someone can make a mod where it disables the AI. Of course if it were to become a real feature the ending would be unsatisfying. I just wanna roam the house while doing a chapter!

You totally can without turning off the AI. Just do it before starting a chapter and you should only have to deal with normal paranormal events which are relatively easy to mitigate by staying in the light and having a pill or two handy.

I also wanted to roam the house (and get familiar with the layout) before starting a chapter, so as to not be bothered by those AI ghosts until i was ready :).

I found that i couldn't explore the basement, kitchen, garage or the laundry room without starting a chapter as the basement key is in the living room, and the door is jammed, so i started the Delores chapter by collecting the key with the mirror on it, unlocked the door (the one with the mirror on), interacted with the covered mirror in the room, which then disappears and reappears in the living room (living room door is now open), collected the basement key (off the top of the drawers), but didn't interact with the covered mirror (it's actually just an empty cover, no mirror) at this point, coming back to it later.

I then continued exploring said areas before continuing with the chapter.

Hey Clancy so you mean right before pulling off the sheet in the living room with nothing inside and are you 100 percent sure Dolores wont kill you during this point?
MrClancy Nov 15, 2020 @ 4:16pm
Yes, that's right. I guess the Delores chapter is effectively paused until you pull the sheet off in the living room with nothing inside. I never encountered Delores just some normal paranormal events. Hey i even felt i had time to try and make a nice cup of hot chocolate in the kitchen without Delores bothering me but the microwave kinda blew a fuse, 100% no Delores :)

So basically Dolores wont catch you? I wanna be sure because Ill be walking around and Dolores will just be there to kill me and I don't want a heart attack.

Well i spent probably an hour (or 2) exploring the whole basement (including the store room and all those winding places in the basement with the water pipes, lagging, and bags of cement) using a lighter and turning the lights on where i could, being prepared to encounter Delores (just in case) but she never appeared. I'm also hoping for a mod to be able to turn the AI off (a safe mode) as i'd like to play the chapters and concentrate more on the story.

So your not completely sure? I just want to know for certain but i guess there no way
MrClancy Nov 15, 2020 @ 4:45pm
True. I can't be completely sure, I can only go on my experience of exploring trying to include everywhere i could for an hour or 2 and not encountering Delores. Just wandering around with the paranormal events (lights going out, doors closing themselves) is pretty unsettling anyway, the game is great at building up the tension and dread just with the normal paranormal activity.

I'm working on the theory that pulling off the sheet in the living room with nothing inside is the event that triggers the next part of the Delores chapter.

Deloris is probably the best chapter IMO. Rakan I would put at #2 and Lucy dead last. Some of the events with Deloris are just so good, so creepy and scary. You're gonna eventually have that heart attack at some point if you keep playing.

If you wanted to also (I started doing this later in the game) is stockpile items in the safe room. Have separate piles of lighters, candles, pill bottles, and light bulbs on the floor in there so you can always get back and re-arm in a matter of speaking.
