Personally, this was the most horrifying game I've ever played, on my first playthrough, mostly due to the audio.
Try turning the audio as loud as you can stand. I find that Visage doesn't have loud jumpscares so you can put the atmospheric audio way up there, which is what makes it so good. Also I play with the brightness nearly all the way down and I recommend that too.
Actually getting killed is never really that scary, but the amazing use of darkness and audio is what makes this game incredible to me. It's not about jumpscares, while there are a few and they're good, the game is mainly about atmosphere.
Also I'm hoping they add a harder difficulty mode, because when you learn the mechanics it gets super easy and less scary but that can be changed by future patches.
Also I play with a controller which makes it really enjoyable to play, maybe try that :)
In VR, horror games shine; even those that you see in a monitor and think "seems so simple and not scaring" (like Dreadhalls for example).
If this game is well optimized and add motion controllers when it releases in VR, will be one of the better games if not the best.
I'm like you, love horror games but nothing scares me. I play with headphones and complete darkness, but nothing... My brain is too rational and analytic.
But you know what?
It doesn't prevent me from enjoying the experience, especially when it has abstract and symbolic touches.
And this game has true potential to be a good one.
OP, there's nothing wrong with not finding this game scary. Horror is subjective. Regrettably this game simply isn't for you.
As I said before, a good horror game in VR is another world compared to the most scary monitor horror game.
Once you tried it, playing normal horror games on a monitor/TV is just a relaxing safe zone.
bUseHDRDisplayOutput=False
HDRDisplayOutputNits=1000
I need to hookup to my HDR display and see if it works.
A. The look at how much money I have...
B. Calling people who do get scared sissy's... but in the same line claiming that he wants go get scared.
Age is nothing in being scared some cant stand movies like scream, other get scared of Paranormal Activity type things. What you are fearfull of is becoming a sissy.
And this thread is actually kind of pointless now besides the HDR and VR talk. I actaully jumped alittle while ago and it was a good one. This game can scare! I guess I judged to early before getting where i'm at now in game. WOW, I definitely would love to experince this game in VR now and even have my freind play it! Looks like i'll need to be getting a VR headset.
I ended up deleting my post pointing out his "Look at how much I spend".
Didnt want to start anything.
Some of us spend a lot on our systems but dont find the need to put the dollar amounts alongside. Quite douchey.
