Glitch with the 3 paintings

There is a glitch with the 3 paintings. I found the ladder down to the room with a bunch of paintings. I knew it wanted the 3 that you can see through the peephole but couldn't remember which 3 it was. Took my best guess and put 3 paintings on the wall. It said nothing happened. I said ok, I'll walk back up the bedroom and take another look. I did that and came back downstairs. When I re-entered the painting room, none of them were on the wall (or at least, that's how it appeared). I walked up to the first spot with a painting and tried to put it down and it wouldn't let me. Confused, I dropped that painting and then clicked on the empty space and SURPRISE! Even though you can't see the paintings, they are still there. not only that, but if you remove them and then drop them and then try to click on the empty space again, it gives you the painting again. Essentially, you get stuck in a loop where you are unable to place a new painting in the spot at all. No idea if rebooting the game fixes it or not because it was at this point that I really needed a break. I'll check it again when I start the game back up but it's a pretty nasty glitch as far as glitches go. I hope this room isn't required to further the story.

Just encountered this glitch as well. The centre painting sticks just fine, but the two on either side of it will not stick no matter what.

Did you update the game (or close out of it and open it back)? I'm not sure which one of those fixed the issue for me but it was one of them.

Game is fully up to date. Tried exiting/loading back into it multiple times, and even went to other areas of the house and tried saving/reloading from there and still nothing.

Hmm, something definitely fixed it on my end but I'm not sure what it was. Maybe I loaded the autosave from before I went down the ladder which meant that the paintings were never placed on the wall in the first place? That's the only thing I can think. Hopefully they'll patch it. I just saw a new patch for Visage pop up in my downloads. Maybe they patched it out. I hope so.

nope. still happens. Halloween 2020. The middle painting area, no matter what I do it will not go onto the wall. Now I have to start over again I suppose.

Try not clicking, and just moving the mouse over the spot where it sticks. If you click it, it pulls it back off the wall. It sets itself in the slot when you hover over it, you dont need to click anything.
