Can hosting a LAN game be ANY HARDER???
I wanted to play this with my son and wife, but the convulted ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t needed to setup a server is so off-putting Im about to refund this game x3.

Look, this is 2018, if you don't have a button to start a multiplayer server (LAN) INSIDE THE GAME without downloading and configuring an entirely seperate server install, then you are doing something horribly wrong. I get that there are those that want dedicated servers, great and wonderful for those that want that.

There is litterally no way I am letting my 8yr son on some other server non-LAN. I tried that with normal ARK and it was a nightmare.

...and to compare this to Portal Knights, atleast that multiplayer setup and connecting on LAN is damn near trouble-free and doesn't require a bunch of extra work.

Dont you have the option to start a lan game?

You don't have to download anything. There is a LAN option. You adjust your settings as you would for single player, then choose LAN you then can make it private or not. Its similar to the Ark NonDedicated Server.

You can go into the GameUserSettings.ini to adjust specific settings if you wish, but its not needed.

There is Host/Local --> LAN MODE, but it 99% of the time fails to allow clients in and locks up when clients attempt to connect to the host. The only way it seems to get clients into the actual game is to host a dedicated on LAN.

I dont have firewalls on and this is all on wired LAN. Every other game I've tried/test works 100% to see and connect, so I know for a fact its this game doing it.

I never understood why the hell Ark or PixArk limits the sliders/values in the game setup screen. Its asinine and fully 100% retarded then requires you to edit GUS.ini anyway. It's like the devs haven't a clue what they are doing half the time. I mean, half the GUS entries are missing unless you manually add them in for many of the settings... its just mind boggling.

Sorry, I didn't realize you were getting the LAN created, it just wasn't allowing people to join. I only play by myself, so I had not tested that part of things. I know we have some less savvy players who don't yet realize that we have a LAN option at all.

I also hate that you have to go into the GUS to adjust things. At least I know on Ark, that you can manually change some of the slider numbers by entering a higher number but I believe even that is limited.

I will keep an eye out to see if I see anyone post about how to get the LAN to work properly without jumping through hoops. It could be that since its still new, it just needs tweaked on the Dev end. It sucks, but thats what we get in Early Access, added features that don't always work as intended.

EDIT:
I just chose a LAN game at random from the list, and was able to join it. I'm not sure if this would work on a game hosted on the same network unfortunately since I don't have any way to test that.

Are you getting any error codes at all or is it just not allowing join?

Have you submitted a support ticket yet regarding this? I now its annoying, but if they don't get a ticket, they may not realize there is a problem since the forum moves so quickly.
