The sulfur is found fairly frequently underground as well. Also if you find an above ground vein it can sometimes be massive.
Not sure if biomes affect anything but Y level definitely affects frequency of things.
Is this similar to minecraft where you just build a large underground tunnel until you start hiting nodes?
That would be very helpful, as I can not find information about this on the net yet.
For the mines, as far as i can tell:
Coal in grasslands
Copper in mountain forest
Iron, coupled with silver in frozen lands and golden realm as hills
Sulfur in swamp
Quartz in desert
Silver mine in doomlands
