Using irrigation?
I've built the reservoir and used the intake to fill it. But I can't seem to figure out how to make it water my crops. What do I need to do?

Start with the intake and then follow the intake back to your garden area with the horizontal and vertical pipes. No need for a reservoir, they don't refill waterskins/kettles. Then just add a couple taps in a line. Works for a decent 7x5, so if you're planning a large garden, you'll need to make multiple irrigation systems.

As for the planting itself, make sure your hotbar is full of fertaliser, as it takes about 2 and a half bags to full grow a 7x5 plot. Remember, you need to actually stay with the garden and constantly refertalize all your plants individually until they're at the mature stage. Then you can reap the rewards of your harvest :D

Mine also goes over my 7 high wall as they haven't implemented a way for them to pass through walls yet :(
Good thing they've got the corner pipe lol.

Pipes and taps.

uh okay? But how are they used to irrigate?

Lay pipes from a water source, connect tap to it alongside a square with a seed planted in it. Pretty much like Ark system but no crop plot required, from a video I saw. Haven't grown stuff myself yet.

Sorry, since you only mentioned the reservoir and no pipes/taps I'd taken that to mean you thought the reservoir alone would do the trick.

So a tap has to be within 1 square of a crop to water it?

Yeah, I should have been more detailed in explaining what I had and what I wanted. Thank you for coming back and explaining.

No i did it, you need a reservoir that get water from an intake and after that you put pipe from the reservoir to your crop field and you put some tap where you need then and it's hydrating 3 x3 each side

3x3? or 3x3x3? Wondering if I can put it 3 above the ground and still water crops? If so that'd mean we can water a 9 tile square per tap.

The taps hydrate up to 5 blocks fo me. So I can go out 5 in all directions for a total of 11x11.

Each tap irrigates a 3x3 area.
FYI, you can place taps directly under soil and they will still irrigate a 3x3 area above them.

For groups, I would suggest someone be a gardener for a couple harvests as it takes dedication, unlike regular ARK. Though the veggies themselves, aren't very useful currently. You only have a couple of recipes, and they're rather basic. Stam recover, food, small amount of food and hp, etc.

Health Brews are now on a timer between uses, so not very useful in PVP, unless you need a quick pick me up lol.
Haven't done the kibble cooker yet, so it might be more fruitful to do the gardening there, but I haven't checked yet.
