Dungeons / Bosses strategies
I was wondering if each biome had its specific dungeon type.

So far i have seen some ruins (Grassland ?), pyramid (Desert) and ice castle (Frozen land).

What about the other biomes ?

Since the map generation can make you miss some biomes, i was also wondering about the dungeons on my map.

What kind of dungeon have you guys found and in which biome ?

Edit gathering informations :

Bosses

Mummy King (Pyramid)

he should go down in 20-40 earth magic essence.

You can trap the mummy king in a small cage (risky but funny) build with simple rocks, 3-4 blocks high. Just make sure it's not connected to the boss door and you can hit him everytime. Now you have severall options:

1. easiest one is set up 10+ Thunder totems nearby and go afk for around 5-7 mins, they will hit him through walls. If they don't take any dmg you can pick them up after the fight, no ammo needed.
2. unpack an dino with a strong range attack (Elemental Golem, Fellhunter) or large melee attack, just make sure you setup the cage high enough (4 blocks) so that the mummy king is not casting over it.
3. Ice Spear / Bone wand through holes in the cage

Don't try to face tank him because of his stun root cast, even with a strong hp dino. Also having the healing mage staff is helping a lot if you get hit.

Ocean dungeon Boss

need SCUBA gear or Scuba potion to get in easily, inside just like normal dungeon, drop not so good, Large sea slime boss (split into smaller ones if about to die).

Behemoth (ice castle hall)

easier kill if u hit using sauropod from outside, drop is quite good
Note : Need confirmation if this strategy still works after patch 1.8 :
Fixed creature's chance to glitch through structures and damage structures inside houses.

Death Lord (doom land)
Originally posted by 󠀡󠀡󠀡Mrs.Dee:
best drop i think, chest contain 3 random item, 2 could be ascendent rarity (i got ascendent steel bone armor + pant, magician hat, steel axe, and some mastercraft item)

i kill it with my friend, just both of us, both using ghost dragon (male + female), she said got couple stat boost, we use hit and run tactic, full regen and hit again, repeat till it die.
sometimes 1 regen and other keep hitting to prevent death lord regenerating.
put lots of raw thigh meat in each dragon inventory, its heal better than normal meat.

1. Coyote Dungeon. This dungeon only spawns in Grassland and Mountain Forest biomes. It appears as a village-like set of derelict houses. Loot includes leather armor, copper tools, copper weapons, and standard bows.
2. Skeleton dungeon. This dungeon only spawns in swamp and magic forest biomes. It appears as a mostly-subterranean structure and is populated entirely by skeletons. Loot includes magic gems, magic essence, magic staves / wands, and potions.
3. Desert Temple. This dungeon only spawns in desert and golden realm biomes. It appears as a large Aztec-like pyramid. Loot includes industrial materials and weapons: guns, ammo, electronics, polymer, oil.
4. Ice castle. This dungeon only spawns in the frozen lands. It appears as a castle made of ice. Loot includes almost any late game gear, tools, and materials.

6.Zombie dungeon, in cave/underground (magic forest?), low tier item, plague zombie is dangerous, Elite plague zombie boss.
7.Dhiloposaurus dungeon, in cave/underground (golden realm?), low tier, easy. Onyc (the bat) Boss.

I have found a couple other dungeons. Both inside exposed caverns. One was in a swamp biome, filled with zombies, and had loot like a skeleton dungeon, but it was a very different layout. The other was in a grassland biome, filled with titanomyrma, and had low-level loot; layed out like a barn or warehouse, with several hidden chests.

Adding my own information regarding pyramid :
I've been able to make it to the last room using only dirt/rock blocks and a bone wand.

Bone wand deals great damage again the ruin mobs and it doesn't need any ammo.
My strategy when entering a room :
Make a 2/3 hgh blocks colum, aggro mobs and jump on my blocks then kill them using the bone wand.

The wand has a short range but you will be able to kill mummies, spiders and beetles this way.

Same thing with the traps, you can pass most of them by laying rocks on the ground

Is those 3 and then a hidden underground dungeon. The hidden one I found only once but it seemed to be low level stuff. It was in a cave somewhere pretty hidden.

Thanks for your answer.

I hope they will add more for each biomes as they go further in EA. That would be a great addition :)

In the grasslands I found a small one underground with the same styling as those grassland wolf house ruins. At the bottom of the ocean there's a temple/pyramid. I found a very large structure underground below the ocean, but maybe it's part of the ocean one mentioned above. There's also a large platform I've seen in both Doomlands and Desert I believe. On my current map there's a HUGE grim reaper on the platform with a bunch of smaller reapers floating around it.

Interesting, I haven't explored the ocean much yet.

I think the Doomland platforms are the places where the reaper boss you saw can spawn.

I don't know if it's related to a dungeon, but I'm digging at bedrock level and I can hear a strange sound, like something going from my left to my right very fast.
I haven't found the source yet.

Still interested if people have discovered other hidden things.

Thanks for sharing.
Haven't seen the skeleton one yet.
I will go make some exploration today and see if i can find it :)

Also, did anyone managed to kill the mummy king ? I've cornered him with some blocks and it never died either using spear or magic wand after beating him for an eternity.

I know he was taking damages as I have the display turned on but i gave up after like 30 minutes.

This seems to be some sort of audio bug, I think. I had it happen while I was digging into the side wall of an open cavern at the edge of a starter zone. Only would hear it while I was in my little hole digging, but if I rushed out, there was never anything there. It happened again when I was digging someplace else... forget if it was my mine or a surface location, where I had again dug to where I was surrounded completely by blocks. *shrug*

Man, it looks like there is a lot of little things to discover. I like it :)

and for the sound, yes, hard to tell if it's a bug or something else. I tried to dig further but never found anything and the sound stops eventually after some times.
