Why Pixark has such a small player base...
I’m making this discussion mostly as a form of feedback for snail games on someways they can improve the game and help figure out why so many leave the game.

Most people quit the game shortly after buying it because of 1 thing... the wiki sucks. I understand the wiki is updated independently but basic Information like taming values are missing entirely. Most of the DLC content doesn’t even have any a page for each creature or resource and this forces players to try to figure it out on their own or more often, stop playing. Sure there is the in-game museum but it’s awkward to use and in a lot of cases the information is inaccurate or the text is too long to read in the tiny space allotted.

The second reason is the game has SO MANY poorly translated descriptions that it shows a lack of care for detail. I mean the firearm workbench still has Chinese characters on it.

Thirdly player griefing runs rampant in the community. Rare is the gentle soul who cares about helping other people on the server, most people just want to see everyone’s work burn. While this is normal for a seasoned Ark player, it is jarring for younger people new to the IP.

This point goes hand in hand with #3. Cheating, exploits, and bugs. I’ll start with the bugs.. I’ve been contributing daily to the bug report mega thread, trying to do my part to make the game better but it makes me question if the content that gets pushed to the live build gets play tested at all. Some bugs are simple translation errors like crap and crab, others are laziness like forgetting to add imprint values to bred Dino’s, and more so they are game breaking exploits line allowing turrets to shoot through anything. The impression I get as a player is that the company responsible for developing their game doesn’t care about it. Maybe that’s the case but can you try to act like you do?

Forth the game lacks depth. Now this problem has been heavily motivated by the skyward dlc which has added a much needed mid and endgame, more can still be done to keep players interested in the game once they’ve hit level 90.

Fifth I can’t begin to say how disappointed I’ve been with the way Pixark handles their social media accounts. Sometimes it will be months without a post from them, nothing, not even informing players of upcoming events like double exp, great things to help draw old players back in.

Lastly the support staff is way too small to combat active cheating in their game. There should be a way to get a GM on any official server within an hour to deal with this, a /help command would sure be nice.
I mean people invest hundreds of hours into your game but when someone can fly over to a base using cheats or exploits to gain a hugely unfair advantage with no repercussions that’s ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t. Victims are left to watch as their base and their dinos get obliterated and hope they can get enough “evidence” to make a case to support which can take upwards of a week or even longer. When support does respond there is often no guarantee that the offender will be banned or that the victims stuff will be restored. Snailgames is the only game company I’ve seen that handles cheating like this... and it’s terrible.

Now in closing.. I love this game, I’ve put 800 hours into, I’ve streamed gameplay of it, and even updated the wiki some. I just wish this game would get the support it needs to be better and draw in new people...

Thanks for the feedback all. IMO I think we've lost a large amount of the player base due to bugs, and we're well aware. Hoping we can bring back some players and get some new ones by squashing bugs. (If you look at our recent reviews, 60% of them mention bugs).

Personally for me it was having no 'offline protection' for my base/tames on PVE. I built a large 3 story base with walls 12 blocks high by 2 blocks thick and greifers still managed to build a ramp overtop of my base to lure fire elementals into it and destroy all my tames and half of my structures in the crop plots while I was offline. The base Ark game has this so why doesnt PixArk?

some plants would have protect you from that, why you did not have crop plotz with them to defend against wild? they can do a lot to my base, but agro mobs to attack me will not result. will die in 10 seconds or less

It’s getting better each month and they’ve been working hard since I made this post. I would say yes, especially if it’s on discount
