Controller doesn't work
Simply put, the game seems to not recognise that there is an Xbox One controller connected to the PC. I've seen the "uncheck all but generic controller support" fix, and no, that did not fix the issue.

Happy to provide more information if someone can help fix this issue.

Same here, tried all suggestions on here, it worked fine when I purchased the game on July 6th. Now nothing. Xbox wireless controller works fine for every other steam game, just not cat quest anymore. Also verified Cat Quest 2 works just fine without having to go into big picture mode or anything.

Here is an update, I bought Cat Quest on GOG and it will not work with any controller I have as well. Killed and disabled Steam on startup like they suggested, same problem with wired and wireless xbox controller

I can't know what's wrong with your system -- I just started playing Cat Quest today (and I was actually positively surprised), and controller just worked out of the box.

Other than the Microsoft drivers, I have absolutely no 3rd party software installed to "improve" controller stuff, and I've disabled Steam's controller support as much as I could.

This is an XBox1-controller.

I am unfamiliar with this issue and am a mostly controller dedicated player. I was even playing both Cat Quest 1 and 2 this past week, plug and play for both main controllers no issues, lag, nor glitches. It may be the controller or if wireless the receiver/ distance from said receiver. Xbox one wireless with USB receiver works, wired Xbox one plug and play no issues, and Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS AC 7 edition (Xbox/windows) also plug and play runs smooth no glitches. I have used these all regularly. All I have ever done is plug and play and keep drivers updated. Only other thing I can think of, is to check for driver updates and bad cables. Good luck and I hope you're back to gaming soon.

Quit working on me too (Xbox One, wireless with USB adapter). The same controller was working for everything else-- so finally I unplugged a DualShock 4 wireless adapter and it started working again. :squirtmeh:

All my controllers work fine in other games but not Catquest.

+1

Sometimes I am not able to get the game to recognize my SeriesX controllers, sometimes not even deleting devices and re-pairing them can make it work. Only digital cross controller works, but A or X button (accept and beat) does not work.

You're still barking at the wrong tree -- games don't deal with controllers on the hardware or pairing level at all: they receive input events from controllers that are already connected and handled by their respective drivers.
