But I recommend not to invest any gold in items at Kit Cats shop at first, as you can get all items out of the normal treasure chests (low tier items) and the golden chests (high tier items) and level them up to 99 - not in one playthrough though. For the golden chests you can get later on a special key to open them all (the key is hidden though). So make sure you remember where you saw one.
I only use my gold to upgrade my magics to level 10 (which is max). The rest of the money I spend on chests at Kit Cat's (as you can take items over to a new game+ or mew game pro mode).
