Hello, have you tried this?
Please try going here:
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\LocalLow\The Gentlebros Pte_ Ltd_\Cat Quest
You may need to show hidden folders to see the AppData folder.
1. Back up all the files inside this directory somewhere.
2. Delete 'save.dat'.
3. Rename 'save.dat.bak' into 'save.dat'
4. Start Cat Quest.
You can back up the files anywhere. Maybe put it on your desktop for now. This is to just prevent you from losing your saves.
Basically, the idea is we always create a 'save.dat.bak'(a backup file) for situations like this. So unless you started a New Game, and saved your game twice in a row, this backup file should still be there and working correctly.
So you simply just need to replace your save.dat with this backup file and it should work.

and i have multiple copies just delete the extras?
You have multiple copies of which files?
Yes that is correct.
- Back up these 3 files on your desktop.(so you dont lose them)
- Delete 'save.dat' and 'resume.dat' from C:\Users\User Name\AppData\LocalLow\The Gentlebros Pte_ Ltd_\Cat Quest
- Now, rename 'save.dat.bak' into 'save.dat'.
- Start Cat Quest and hit 'Continue'.
Steam should ask you if you want to use the local files or the ones on the cloud. Say you want the ones on your local.

Huh? All these files we were talking about are from this folder.

-etc
Send us all the files in that folder please. :)
