My 3-hour save got overwritten!
After 3 hours of playing, I clicked "New Game" just to see if we could save more than one progress. I exited the new game WITHOUT moving or saving, but my old progress somehow got overwritten! Such a tragedy that makes me feel too frustrated to play again.... :steamsad:

Does anyone encounter the same issue as well?

Hello!
There may still be a way to save your old game, provided you haven't catnapped and saved.

Please go to:
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\LocalLow\The Gentlebros Pte_ Ltd_\Cat Quest
(You might need to show hidden folders)

In this folder, there is a file called save.dat.bak.
We always generate a back up for situations like this. So if you have not catnapped or saved too many times, this file should still contain the data of your previous game.

Simply take this file and remove the 'bak', so the file is now called 'save.dat'.
Replace this file in the same location and start the game.

You should be able to continue with your old game. :)

Let us know if this works!

Hi Devs,

Many thanks for the reply! I tried your way and unfortunately it didn't work. It seems that the minute a new game is launched, it would generate the BAK file (even though I haven't catsnapped). I guess my old save is really overwrittten.

But hey t's a great game after all and I don't mind starting all over again. Thanks for your efforts dev team!

Ah~! Pity... :(

Well, if its still not too late, you could try doing the steps above but leave Steam offline. The cloud saves might be overriding the backups.

But thanks for your support too! :)

Thanks. I realize this is kind of necro-ing a post, but this helped us recover our save!
