should we feel bad for buying this game?
edit: NO, we don't have to.
read the comment if you aren't sure about buying it.

(+ STOP leaving mean comments for no reason. they will be reported.)

i don't like supporting devs like this.
i quit playing games from blizzard because i'm not okay with what they do. i despise the forager dev for his behavior. i'm sick of devs and game studios lying and being disrespectful towards the consumers. i'm sick of unfinished games.
but i'm not lying.. i'm pretty hyped for this game. since YEARS.
i really wanna play it but i also don't like what the devs did.
yes- it's hypocritical, i know.
i can't be the only one feeling this way, right?

You don't have to justify your decisions to anyone but yourself.

Personally, I feel like the devs should have handled their EGS exclusivity announcement better and been more respectful of their audience which was supporting their development, instead of being completely dismissive.

Of course, the gamer community also completely over-reacted to that announcement and once that happens, it's never going to be amicably resolved.

Plenty of blame to be handed out on both sides.

I'm not buying the game, but it's not one that I am excited about anymore.
As far as supporting or not supporting the devs goes: the devs said Epic gave them the same amount of money for exclusivity that they expected to earn across all platforms anyway. So that ship has already sailed regardless.

Pretty much what spleendamage said, you don't need to justify anything to others. I'll be honest here, i learned how bad devs were towars steam users in the past since all the epic exclusivity thing, but they also have the right to redeem themselves.

I hate epic store and Tim for being a massive hypocrite, but its not right to abuse devs for taking his words in any way. Maybe i'll ending on buying it too, i never say no to cute and relaxing games.

I did buy it on epic, I dont like epic store only. But really wanted the game. I love the game. maybe even so much I gonna buy on steam too.
Dont punish yourself for a thing that others do, is my one thing of my upbringing.

Do not buy this. There are many better alternatives. You don't need to waste your money on developers that are jerks.
Zio Oct 1, 2023 @ 7:36am
The only people the devs "were jerks" towards were capital G Gamers, Gamers™, the specific subset of gamers who throw a tantrum at every friggin turn when something doesn't go their way. Like they did with every single game/dev/etc who took the epic deal, on and off Steam.

no. i'm CLEARLY asking for games LIKE ooblets.
are you actually saying that every farming/life sim is the same?
well, that's not the case.
i own MANY farming and life sim games and i can guarantee you, that they AREN'T like ooblets. that's why i asked for games who ARE like this one.
so.. i'll ask again,- what are the alternatives to this game?

You don't have to explain yourself to others I personally would love to buy this however after what I heard I am not impressed. They the Developers/gamers didn't handle this well at all they were promised keys for the steam verison. And then the devolopers decided not to give them the keys because they went with EPIC which I can't stand for various reasons. They lost a sale when they did that because of how they handled it not that the players did any better so I see both sides of the coin here. You do you and don't worry about the rest they will get over it there will always be haters either way :)

He told you to look the other farming/life sim games on steam.
https://store.steampowered.com/tags/fr/Simulation%20de%20ferme/
Here, have fun.
Or if you're more into monsters stuff you have this
https://store.steampowered.com/tags/fr/Collection%20de%20cr%C3%A9atures/

It depends what you're looking for, if it's "farming cute creatures" I think Slime Rancher 2 would be the best game right now.
Cassette Beasts as a Pokémon like looks dope too

You can also find youtube channels entirely around "cozy games" like Eeowna for example if that's what you're into.

No need to justify your buying practices to anybody (unless you're overspending, hoarding or doing something crazy). It's always healthiest to manage hype and wait a bit when games release to truly see if the games do live up to those expectations you place on them, which is rare, but there's nothing wrong with picking up a game that you think you'd like.

Stands to remember too: small development teams who release their games exclusively on Epic do so because Epic both gives them a larger cut of proceeds from sales, and cuts deals to just pay the teams a sum up-front in exchange for exclusivity. Any adult understands how crappy it is to work a 9-5 to barely pay rent; a lot of people on these message boards need to understand how much more stressful it is to do so AND develop a game for years hoping that it will be a financial success so you have something to show for it too. Nothing wrong with teams that take the Epic deal, just means they can recoup their production costs immediately instead of hoping they'll hit an arbitrary number later.
