Some questions have been raised as to where to grab the community pack for War in Europe and how to install it. On Steam, we have tried to make it as easy as possible for you by offering it as a free DLC. This DLC can be found on the games product page or by going to the DLC page directly:

Thanks for this very good free Mod.
The Iron Cross Mod will not run on my game.

Try grabbing the latest Iron Cross Mod from here:

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4584600

Then simply extract it and install it to the following MODS folder on your end, e.g. copy and paste here:

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War in Europe\Mods

Hello, i have download the Iron Cross mod (use the link you posted) and extract it to the folder which is mentioned above.
The Main Menu have the new graphics. But when i start a game there is a crash to desktop. "failed (draw_to_buffer) Segmention violation".
The game start and the map have the new look. But after a minute or less there is a crash. The Unit Icon is also still in orginal 3D.

When i play without Mod everything is fine. But I can`t select Nato Counters. There are only the 3D Counter. Is this right?

Hi Jarhead, just to confirm, did you install v4.6? Also does this crash happen no matter which campaign you play?

For NATO counters, it is the default and show as such in game when you turn 3D units off. Is this not the case?

Okay. Thanks. Turn 3D units off was the solution for all the problems. My mistake. I totally missed this option .

Just a quick update in that it looks like there is a bug in the code that this mod (Iron Cross Mod) has now exposed.

To work around it for now and until the next game update:

1) try playing with the mod only in NATO counter mode, e.g. 3D units turned off

OR

2) if playing in 3D mode, try setting the LAND COUNTER STYLE to NONE (in the OPTIONS screen), e.g. no discs under the 3D units and that should work to get you past this error

Actually on further inspection it looks like an issue with the mod. If you delete the following file in the mod it should resolve the issue for now as well.

These game are very dated at this point. Fall Weiss is probably the best and most popular but its been updated many many times since this. If you go to the Matrix forum you will find instructions on how to download the latest version of Fall Weiss. enjoy

1st: thank you. 2nd: hey pumpkin head. 3rd: I am still not sure, I noticed the game through a stream and a recorded multiplayer duel. I own strategic command 2 Blitzkrieg, and took this game here as a further development. But I heard in the streams they were playing a mod with tactical symbols and a smoother map surface. Isn't this what the community pack is about? Is it rather improved campaigns? Sorry I am so lost. I can in any case check the other forum, I already tried.

I've been played this since SC!, played Blitzkreig alot. Some people prefer the Fall Weiss but I'd say you are better off just playing the base '39 scenario. Play vs AI a couple times then go over to PBEM, get ready to have your a$$ handed to you. Takes a while to get up to speed but is a ton of fun once you improve and find someone of equal ability. I think there is a way to change to tactical symbols maybe Bill will help you, ask in the Matrix forum. I've sort of moved on from the game but if you have any questions ask I've played mucho grande. Maybe Fall Weiss later.

Hello. I bought and installed the game from Steam in June 2023. Latest version says 1.27 and that sounds about right, but the Iron Cross version says 4.4, and I'm seeing other people say they're on 4.6 or 4.7, how does that get fixed? Thanks.
