I see this game has 'in app purchases'. Has this game been infected by Loot Box Cancer?

No it doesn't.! You can earn reward from achievements and, althought you open a box, there is no randomness in what you will get since every achievement has a spefici reward! The microtransaction are, like in other games, to buy new champions or skins. All champions can also be unlocked with in-game currency.

Unfortunately, the unlockable characters seem to be by and large more powerful than the free characters, meaning those who have played for longer, or spent actual money on the game, tend to have an advantage.

It takes quite a while to grind enough currency to unlock new characters too, and it'll take even longer if you want to buy the standard array of cosmetic skins for your favourite characters.

Almost everyone use two or three free characters on him squad.If you don't know a character try the practise mode but this game isn't pay to win.
The four/three free characters are strong

All the characters are strong if you understand how they work. The four characters that the game gives you at the beginning are the most user-friendly. The characrters you buy or unlock are harder to understand, but if you don't play the game and only base your thoughts on online reviews this speaks for itself.

It is not pay to win and you shouldn't base your thoughts out of a guy writing something in some website on the internet. Play the game, that will answer all your questions.

Btw the game is free to play which means that if you just want to try it to see if its ♥♥♥♥ or not you can do it.
